I thought the Hoosiers would be better than the bfg in the wheel hop dept.

And it doesnt look like a lot of water in the burnout box ( dry hop) .

Bummer I'll probably do the same thing at the strip ( can't run slicks)

It's not every time that they hop, for the most part they hook and go. It is mainly on the burnout where I get the hop. I'll let you know if I figure out a way around it. I know the Hoosier DR's don't like a lot of heat so I'm going to try a lighter burnout without the e-brake and see if that keeps the hop down.

Time to invest in some terhune race work axles that are cryo treated :) The Hoosier qtp's will fit nice on your rims bro. Did you try alittle harder on the suspension up front if you did that might have done it bro. I think it's between your dr and suspension setup that is giving you the problems.

Got any links to where you got the 15x8 aluminum wheels I been looking around for some
Drag radials still have a pretty stiff sidewall. Slicks will eat the majority of the shock up and keep the car from bouncing since you have everything else lined up!

My wheel/tire is JEGS 15x8 aluminum wheels with M&H 24.5x8.5 tires.

JEGS...just go to jegs.com and look up their wheels. The one's I have are sport mag II since they tend to be pretty cheap. I got mine for $88 each plus shipping when they were running a sale a while back.

Also wanted to add that I weighed my car today. I borrowed some digital scales from a friend that's big into drag racing. I was expecting around 2300lb...turns out a bit better. 2169 lb without me in race trim.

Sinister Level 4. I needed a converter so I wanted to go ahead and try a Sinister Level 4 in a FWD application. I'm figuring it being a drag only converter though I still plan to drive it some on short trips.

Yeah...funny part is that I already know how I can get it down around 2k lb.

Fiberglass hood - 15lb
Fiberglass hatch w/ lexan - 15lb
2-4 gallon fuel cell - 60lb
gut the doors (window motors, tracks, door bars, etc) - 30lb
headlight motors/linkage - 5lb
driver seat for aluminum seat - 25lb
clean/cut more random brackets, the dash and a few other things - 15-20lb

That would get the car down right at 2k lb. But at that point, it's probably going to get another 100lb throw back into it with a cage. But I know a few more things I can do to save weight that are a bit more in-depth. ;)

im fwd on my 2nd talon wanna run 12s with my 16g setup tuned on e85 ill keep you guys posted :)

quick question, what backspacing is required for a 2g with stock brake calipers? I am looking for a 15" wheel right now, and I'm not sure on the backspacing.

Greetings my FWD brethren. I sent my spyder down the track this past weekend and was greatly disappointed. My butt dyno had told me that this was a low 14 sec car, but it was very wrong. This was my first drag strip pass in a vehicle. I'm used to cutting 1.4 60s and 10 flat passes on my little 600cc CBR, but this was an entirely different endeavor. Launching these peg legged, traction starved, chunky butt cars takes some skill and I tip my hats to you gents who do it well. My 60ft is so embarrassing that I won't even post it. My trap speed tells me that the car has some potential, but the driver needs some work. I had a hell of a time making the 1-2 shift. It feels like there is a wall there and I literally have to muscle it into gear. There is no grinding at all, only a stubborn and constant resistance that requires considerable force to overcome. Thoughts and encouragement are welcome. Thanks guys. I needed to vent and cry a little on the inside at the same time. Here it is.....

Hang in there man. It could be worst....you could spend tens of thousands of dollars and bearly break into the 13's...oh and only trap 110 in the 1/4 when you should trap 110 in the 1/8.

The car ran great. My only concern power wise is that i'm not reaching full boost until the upper 4k range. I'm sure I have a boost leak somewhere, but I just haven't had the chance to dig into it yet.

if it makes you feel any better in my 97 gst (1st dsm) I did some mild upgrades and only ran a 15.5 on a small 16g @ 14psi. I had the same problem with my trans when shifting and on top of that the clutch was just about done. I only got 3 passes until it slipped so bad it almost didn't make it off the track. I now have a 96 (current) gst that I am sending the trans to shep for a stage 2 with a wavetrac lsd. Slicks in the near future and a good tune and I'm hoping for low 12s. Get your trans worked out and get some practice time in a you can do alright. Its a lot more work fwd but then you can say you know how to drive when your barking at the 11s fwd style. Good luck!

I'm seriously debating going to an auto tranny to avoid these kinds of 5-speed problems. What et would you guys expect from a FWD car trapping 101? I'm only curious because of those atrocious shifts and piss poor launches that really mucked up my time.
