I havent had time to add all that has been done to my car but i do have a walbro pump, areomotive adj reg, 660 injectors, punishment fmic, greddy bov, tubular manifold, ecmlink, full exhaust, and a wideband o2. I was holding 19 psi on a 14b till it finally took a crap.

You can probably get away with 20psi or so on pump, that's just a ballpark figure, but I have no clue how that turbo will perform. However, let's not derail this thread anymore, this is only to identify turbo's, if you have any questions feel free to PM me dude. :thumb:

My question is~ do u guys think this thing will be halfway reliable and will it hold good boost?
Nope.

I just tore down a knockoff 20G for a customer last week and the thrust collar wore completely through the thrust plate. Needless to say, it was junk. For the record, I've never seen anything like that happen to a MHI turbo in over 7 years of rebuilding.

I just purchased a 95 talon tsi awd and I was told the turbo is an FP Green but all I have is a serial number and I don't like taking people at their word. It has a tiny fp logo etched into it and looks legitimate but I would like to know if it is an actual green an if its the 1st gen or 2nd gen green. The serial reads 49179-52010 and has a mitsu logo close to it. Any help would be awesome. Thanks and I did search Google and here in advance.

Contact Forced Performance.

Or he could just post a picture of it, he would get a faster response being that it's the weekend.

Post a picture of the compressor housing and compressor wheel.

No clue without a closeup of the tag or some compressor specs. The TD06 is just a listing of what turbine this particular unit uses. To someone like me, the asking price is worth it in parts alone as long as the turbine or center housing isn't damaged, but this turbo really has no place on a DSM as-is.

Just got this from a friend. I see its got a very different clamp that holds it together than i've seen elsewhere. maybe someone will see it as a dead give away

Any ideas? I had one person suggest it might be an old FP turbo?

Antique Slowboy G60-1. I have a G54 that looks identical, although it's quite uncommon to see one with a steel backplate like that.

Great to see that it's still around, but the machined 7cm Mitsu housing is never going to support the amount of airflow the compressor provides. You'd be better off with a T04E50.

Awesome. With this info i've done some searching. Do you think this is one of the early garrett models?

and... i can use a garrett T04E rebuild kit if i need it?

Since theres been so many generations of their turbos its kinda hard to straighten out the facts on this.

edit:

did more reading... looks like if it has the mitsu housing then yes, it is a Garrett.

It would appear so.

All SBR "G" turbos would use the same T04E parts kit with the exception of the big-shaft units built by Turbonetics.
Borg S2xx or S3xx depending on the turbine, and the "xx" would be whatever the compressor inducer spec is. Example= S256.

Figure out what turbine this unit uses and you can most likely pick up a DSM bolt-on housing from Bullseye Power.

Hi guys I am trying to figure this turbo out its dirt cheap $50, but i am pretty sure its ebay junk, I know its a 16G dunno if a small or large one

Looks like a Big 16G to me....definitely not eBay junk, but I'd be skeptical of the fact that the entire turbo is painted with Mexichrome and a lack of masking tape. Some guys have a knack for painting well-used parts with a 99-cent spray bomb and claiming they are like new.

so would it be worth the $50 he's asking ?? obviously i will test for side to side and in and out play, also a very up close inpection of the turbine blades,

To someone like me who could use the turbo for parts regardless, it's absolutely worth the asking price- to the average consumer, it may be worth it as long as it doesn't have wheel damage. If the wheels have hit the housings, you should stay away as you're looking at around a $300-$350 repair bill.

hello people I want to find out what turbo i have, the stainless steel tag reads exactly like this

GARRETT

AB 0207J
MR187909
466491-5

( The top one could be AB Q207J so if guys can check both)

It's most likely a stock t-25, but it could be a t-28 too if it has an upgraded compressor wheel. The best way to tell, as far as I know is to just drive the car. If the boost drops off to 10psi after 5.5k to redline you've got a stock t-25.;)
