What Turbo is this? [Merged] Turbo ID Identification

if u could tell me what the housing is from id be really impressed.

I've been doing research and I can't really pinpoint it.

That appears to be a .63 a/r housing, which is pretty big for a stock gasoline application....but that wastegate hole is HUGE for a diesel, so I'm lost.

Chrysler uses a lot of strange inlet and outlet flanges....it's possible that the turbo was made as a direct-fit upgrade to a Chrysler 2.2 or 2.5 or something along those lines.

Most of my vehicle-specific rebuilds are on DSM turbos, so I don't have as much experience identifying strange flanges. Maybe if you sent the photos to someone like G-Pop Shop they would be able to give you a better answer because they deal with a wide variety of vehicle-specific turbos on a daily basis.

where could i buy a different housing for this that would be more common

You can buy them from a Garrett dealer / distributor or another company like Precision or Turbonetics. I think the only two I have at the shop are a .63 5-bolt and a .82 4-bolt; that .82 housing is made for some serious flow and would be overkill unless you were running 30+psi.

Do you have any idea what size the compressor wheel is in that turbo by chance?

I think you'd be better off with something like a .63 housing for anything being driven on the street unless the compressor is huge (60-1, etc). The .82 housing will make the turbo laggy and less-responsive with no additional flow benefit unless you're running a shit-ton of boost.

im pretty sure its a 60-1 but not 100% sure on that. Im running like 25-27psi. How can i check for sure what the size is

You can't without removing the compressor cover and measuring the wheel...but if you post pics of the compressor wheel I can give it a shot.

A 60-1 has (7) major blades while all of the other T04E compressors have (6); if that helps.

here is a pic i had from before. its alittle hard to see but i think there is 7 blades

60-1 compressor for sure.

It's up to you- the .63 would offer a little quicker spool than what you're used to and should support plenty of airflow for 25-28psi....a .82 housing would be an exact replacement. New they sell for $250-$300, I do have a couple clean, crack-free used ones here- PM me if you're interested.

i just go this turbo from one of my friends for real cheap although i do not know what size it is i think its either a 17c or 20g not sure. i no it need an accuator and and oil feed but does it look like a need any thing else and finaly will a stock 4g63t with stock internals be fine to run this at 11psi. and information is greatly appreciated thanks.

here are the pictures of the turbo

The 17c is the stock turbo on the Syclone/Typhoon. The turbine wheel is a TD06, if it's straight off a SY/TY it wont bolt on, but you can just use a mitsu-style housing machined for a TD06 wheel. They aren't much different than a 16g, spool is a later as well.

it looks like a 20g. I may not be right.Kinda new to turbo and stuff but i looked it up. thats what it looks like. would be easier if i had it in hand to tell what it is. hope i helped.

Actually i see now. i was wrong. sorry. i found it on a better site

I know these threads get old. A customer brought me this car I have to put back together (actually have to take two cars and make one good one).

But I need to know what turbo this is. I believe it is a Chinese knock off but am unsure. I was told it was a 20g I however do not believe this it has no coolant passages. But it bolts to a 2g manifold.

looks like the comp wheel fins are damaged.its not a mhi 20g.i dont think they have a square casted into the comp housing

Yeah I know its toast I am trying to identify it. The compressor housing looks identical to ebay t3/t4's.

The turbine side bolts up to a dsm 02 housing and manifold.

After some more looking at the turbo I found the center housing has the garret "A"

ok so I have some more info. On the inside of the compressor housing it has some engraved lettering. "-IF 60T" Or it could be "-A 60T" or " 17 60T"

The f is backwards. If it is an a it is squared off and the I or 1 is not attached to the 7 or F.

Here is a pic sorry its not better.

Edit it appears to be -17 because the compressor wheel has -017 on the back side. Now I need to know where I can get the parts to rebuild it.

SBR (Kinetic) G60 with a completely junked compressor wheel.

Don't waste your time rebuilding if it needs a wheel....these turbos are built with non-Genuine parts, and you can buy a new one for a shade over $600. I just had to inform a poor customer that his G60's turbine shaft twisted after just 137 miles of use- good job on the quality, SBR.
