if u could tell me what the housing is from id be really impressed.
I've been doing research and I can't really pinpoint it.
That appears to be a .63 a/r housing, which is pretty big for a stock gasoline application....but that wastegate hole is HUGE for a diesel, so I'm lost.
Chrysler uses a lot of strange inlet and outlet flanges....it's possible that the turbo was made as a direct-fit upgrade to a Chrysler 2.2 or 2.5 or something along those lines.
Most of my vehicle-specific rebuilds are on DSM turbos, so I don't have as much experience identifying strange flanges. Maybe if you sent the photos to someone like G-Pop Shop they would be able to give you a better answer because they deal with a wide variety of vehicle-specific turbos on a daily basis.
where could i buy a different housing for this that would be more common
You can buy them from a Garrett dealer / distributor or another company like Precision or Turbonetics. I think the only two I have at the shop are a .63 5-bolt and a .82 4-bolt; that .82 housing is made for some serious flow and would be overkill unless you were running 30+psi.
