What Turbo is this? [Merged] Turbo ID Identification

Sweet, at least I'm staying to the original "JDM" style tradition of using imported parts... hahah.

If anyone else has any more knowledge on this turbo charger it would be appreciated.

Overall, I don't care about the quality... If it works it works. If it doesn't work the best, well I got it for extremely cheap... and I'll just use it till Its time for an upgrade...

Ebay knockoff , some 10yr old chinese kid made it. So you can say it was made by "Insert random chinese name here". Spec sheet/flow chart ? The kid blew like hell in it , he said it flows & meets specs. Good Luck :thumb:

Best Ebay turbo response ever! ROFLROFL :thumb:

Here you go, looks like the exact same turbo.

SUPER T4 TO4B TURBO CHARGER+ oil return line kit

Only the hotside. The snail on the OPs looks like a holset knockoff like stated above. All of this is really irrelevant until you get it on the car and running you wont know how its going to work, regardless if its a 14b 16g or 20g ebay knockoff. They arent machined to the same specs as the real deal this has been proven in many posts.

They however work great for some and not others.

You can expect a few things from that unit: Slower spool slower spool

Put that thing on your lawnmower, and see what it can do??LOL

What if I hit a weed and it builds boost, and shoots off and I can't catch it? ROFL

EVO-III's ran TDO5H Big16G units.

Yeah, I read something like that... Except this is like a Holset replica... Holset makes TO4Bs... so how is this any way related to an EVO-III? hahah.

Here you go, looks like the exact same turbo.

Interesting... At least I paid less than half the price for mine, and it included a BOV. :thumb:

Thanks Kolby for the information. It was useful. It kind of confirmed what I had already suspected. :thumb:

I won't be running this turbo for a while until I get everything else together. But I can't wait to see whether or not this turbo has the potential I hope for. At the price I got it for, it really wouldn't matter though... ROFL

Yeah, I've seen ones like that on ebay. It's great how it says Evo III and DSM on it and it doesn't look anything like a EvoIII turbo, AND it's not a DSM bolton at all. I also like how those say 'turbocharger' righ ton them, like what else would it be besides a big paperweight. That thing is goona spool so slow...

Chinese ebay turbos aren't JDM parts. Japanese Domestic Market and China aren't quite the same.:(
I think the quality of the turbo is:notgood: They use inferior internal parts.
But as far as specs, AR 1.15 is absolutely huge, you would be lucky to build "any" boost under 6k.
You should look for a turbo that will be a little more efficient for your setup!

"DSM Evo III Bolt-On" with a T04B cover and a divided T4 flange. Yeah right. Nice try, China....:f-u:

That's a P-Trim knockoff turbine wheel and a V-Trim knockoff compressor. The rumor was that the Bullseye version of this turbo with a DSM bolt-on turbine housing used to make a lot of airflow at low boost levels, but suffered drastically once the boost rose above 20psi. It was so poor, in fact, that an Evo III 16G stomped it in peak airflow above 20psi and spooled faster doing so. This turbo would never come close to making lots of air at low boost on our cars with a T4 divided housing.

If you want an idea of how surge-happy turbos with that wheel combination are, there's plenty of good reading on this site:

By the looks of that adapter plate I would have to say it's a hrc "super 20g" which basically means extra laggy 20g with a little more flow up top.

I need some help identifying this turbo it came with my talon and i need to get a rebuild kit for it

20G of some sort. The cover appears to have been machined- it could have a 46 or 54 trim Garrett compressor wheel. Post pics of the wheels or their measurements (inducer / exducer) and I'll do my best to identify what turbo it is.

It would take a standard TD05H parts kit no matter what turbine it uses; if the compressor wheel is flat-backed you'll need to use a 14B rebuild kit.

The compressor wheel is 3 inches

<a href="http://s32.photobucket.com/albums/d44/eahill/?action=view&current=047.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d44/eahill/047.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

needs new wheels and has considerable shaft play

<a href="http://s32.photobucket.com/albums/d44/eahill/?action=view&current=052.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d44/eahill/052.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Definitely appears to be bigger than a 46-trim, so I'd say that is a 54-trim Garrett compressor wheel; making this a Frank Level 3 (TD06 turbine) or Frank Level 4 (TD06H turbine) 20G.

If it needs both new wheels, throw it away. Seriously.

You're looking at:
- $120 or so for a new compressor wheel.
- $219 for a new TD06 (or 06H) turbine.
- $60-$80 to machine the compressor wheel into a flat-backed wheel to fit the CHRA.
- $40-$60 for a complete balance of the rotating assembly after the machining.
- $75 for a parts kit.
- $?? for labor.

You could easily spend $600 on fixing this turbo IF the center housing hasn't sustained any damage.

thanks i appreiciate that, i guess its just a paper weight now i will have to cruise the classifieds and sites and find another 20g or 18g for my build... i was told by the kid i bought the car from that it was an 18g and i knew it wasnt an 18g because i had a custom kit on my prelude with a 18g
