What Turbo is this? [Merged] Turbo ID Identification

Looking at buying this holset from a friend of mine, my concern is it doesn't have a data plate like the other holsets I see up at work. Im pretty sure its an 8blade hx40
I tried emailing Holset as well as looking up the numbers and couldn't find anything.
Any info would be helpful, I can measure the inlet if that would help.

Trying to get pics up but Internet is being slow.
Numbers on the housing are
3504410
B8AD
(25)
41050

It doesn't look like that. I work around construction equipment and alot of the big stuff run hx35s or 40s. It looks just like a 40 but there's no data plate like the others I've seen. Still trying to upload pics..

My friend has this turbo. But doesn't know what it is. Can you identify it? So far I know its garrett
BTW I just bought it for 40 bucks I think its a t28 for a nissan 240

Not a T28....that's some type of OEM Garrett T3, super-small for the size frame. Has a Stage 1 turbine, .48 a/r turbine housing, and one of the smallest T3 compressors I've ever seen. Would be lucky to outperform a T25, and it looks like someone's already hacked the shit out of the turbine housing so it wouldn't fit the OEM application any more.

Are you sure? Can you post some pics of the compressor housing where it shows that number also a pic of the wheel.

is that good?

i think its a 14b

just picked up another dsm pretty cheap, im going thru it and correcting a few things and trying to figure out the setup. this is the turbo/manifold that came on it. i was told it was a 20g. ive never had anything but a 14b/16g turbo, so im in the dark with this one, what is it, what about the exhaust manifold, and why run a spacer between it and the head. the turbo has no name plate, has a number 49 on compressor housing and thats all i can really tell, internal gate, outlet is bigger than ive had in the past.

Hahn Super 16G. It's a Small 16G with an oversized 10cm T3 turbine housing. Gain some serious spool by losing that shitty adapter and turbine housing in favor of a 7cm DSM bolt-on housing, then modify the wastegate actuator to work. A Small 16G on a 2.0 doesn't need a turbine housing that large.

I would like to get a full spec Turbine Compressor part number is it a Dual Ball Bearing Turbo? what flange what style compressor housing what the rated hp?

there is no name plate here a few numbers H2613 and 9722-30

Got this turbo from a parts car. Owner threw it in with the sale. I was told it was never ran after rebuild. Everything is tight and looks new so I believe it.

I was told it was a 6152 has t4 flange vband out.

Has .58a/r on the hot side and says Garrett on the comp cover.

Can you post or pm me what id need to do the swap suggested. Im not a fan of that adapter setup at all. The car is a built motor .040 over. 272's fmic, aeromotive fuel system etc. Can it make good power?

picked up this from a kid locally. was told it was an F280R, sposed to be 800-1000hp according to the old info on f2 racing.

measured the wheels and the specs come out to:

compressor inducer: 65.60mm
compressor exducer: 91.00mm

turbine inducer: 61.85mm
turbine exducer: 71.00mm

has ITS compressor housing and wheel, everything else is garrett. no tag or markings on the CHRA, turbine housing is small looking, has garrett, 63 and B2506, as well as some other markings that i am not positive of the meanings.

also it is dual BB as far as i can tell, might need compressor side shaft seal (I.E.- rebuild)

so Justin, what do i got??

pictures below

edit: also, the f280r was supposed to be a t4 flange, this is a T3. also curious about flow specs for the turbine wheel. my freind wants to try it on his built 7mgte, but is worried the turbine housing is too small.

Sounds a bit exaggerated. I don't know of any T3-frame turbos capable of 1000hp outside of maybe the FP3794 or PTE 6766.

Ah, ITS. No surprise Innovative Turbo is no longer around as of 2007 or so- they essentally copied Turbonetics turbos directly, poorly-pairing wheel combos on what is essentially a knockoff of a turbo that is already a knockoff of a Garrett....so reliability suffered.

A few of the ITS employees started Comp Turbo, however I've not seen any hard proof out of anything built by Comp to assume they have any idea what they're doing either. You may be able to ask Comp if they can service your old ITS turbo, but I'm sure it's not going to be cheap.

Assuming it's ball bearing, you have a non-rebuildable turbo with way too large of a compressor on way too small of a turbine. May work well on a 1.5-1.6L, but our cars or anything larger will have too much exhaust energy. In other words- a nice door stop, paper weight, or small boat anchor.

No need to worry- it is definitely too small.

Dang, strike out again. Good thing I didn't pay squat for it. Oh well some Honda guy might want it.

I had actually called comp and spike to Justin (ironic?) There. He Informed me if it was indeed the f280r that it was an oOK turbo. Looks like its not worth it :/

Thanks tho!
