What Turbo is this? [Merged] Turbo ID Identification

T3/T4 should be the flange it uses. A mitsu manifold probably will not bolt up to that turbo without an adapter.

Chinese Garrett knockoff. Worth about $100 new; whatever current scrap prices are is the used value.

Apparently you missed the 70-page thread of the same title due to a lack of searching prior to starting this thread, so I'll go ahead and merge it for you.

You're welcome.

Wrong.

T3/T4 refers to mating a T4-spec compressor wheel to a T3-spec turbine in order to achieve more airflow than the T3 compressor series offers. It has nothing to do with flanges.

Hey Justin,

I can't seem to find any info online on this turbo. I'd really just like a compressor map, but I don't know if one exists. Can you help?
Holset T46; antique model replaced by the HT3B. Giant, reverse-rotation boat anchor originally intended for a NTA855C Cummins with none of the billet tech that exists in the HX52/HX55 turbos.

So I bought what a guy says is a T-28 for dirt cheap, but when I got it I looked at it, and I think its just a regular t-25..

Well crap. It was only 150 bucks, and im sure I can get my money back. Thanks guys!

Oh hell 150$? dirt cheap? LOL that's not dirt cheap to me. LOL I would deff get your money back. or get half of it back and buy a rebuild kit. I am pretty sure you can get on for like 80$ complete rebuild kit. I'll have to ask my brother for the link tomo

50-80$ for a used t25 in rough shape tops is what you should be looking at. Definitely not a T28 though, you can do a quick visual check by simply looking at the compressor cover inlet. T28 is thinner, yours is the thick one. For 150$ you have been had.

T25 --------------------------------------------------BigT28

Another quick visual check; If the interior of the compressor inlet slants towards the compressor blade, it's a t25. T28's have a straight path from inlet to compressor blade.

A blown T25 for $150? I've sold freshly-rebuilt T25's for not much more than that in the past.

You got hosed.

can any one tell me what turbo this is ???

Well the numbers on the turbo matched the numbers off the 16g mentioned in the thread I linked.

there isnt even a pic, how do you know the dsmtalk guy even has a 16G LOL... ALL 16Gs need a J pipe because the comporessor housing faces the same direction as the exhaust housing...which is UP

the numbers on that link are wrong.. this is the serial number for an EVO3 16G

that turbo he is asking about isnt even MHI turbo.. so who knows? not I. just not a 16G

16g has a J pipe.. this is no 16g
Not nessacerily. I can't confirm whether the turbo in that pic is or is not a 16g, but not all 16G's use a j-pipe. There are a few different downfiring compressor cover options for 16g based turbos.

Both circled turbos in this pic are 16G's.
