Just had to order a new chain for my saw, again. This time I ordered a 3 pack.

Tell me how an oil filter gets inside of a tree.

It was probably left there by a couple guys out "encouraging bad behavior" ROFL✌️

Not much done on the cossie lately, waiting on parts and being very busy at weekends means i only get an hour or two here and there at work to do stuff. Still, managed to get pretty much the whole front off. A new rad and intercooler will be going in there as well as hoses etc. Next job is to do all the belts etc you see there then start on all the suspension.

I forgot to put the wife's TT on the battery maintainer last time I took it out to shake out the flat spots and boil out the water. Went to flip it around in the garage and not even a click, no lights, nothing. Hooked up the charge and it read 6.3v, tried to charge to see if it would bounce back but no luck.

Picked up a cheap EverStart Plus from WalMart and swapped out the old for the new. This is what I found. It's an OEM replacement that it looks like the dealer put in before we bought the car.

I seriously doubt the EverStart is going to last even a fraction as long. The weight difference between the two was significant.

I'm not sure how much or what has changed in the last few years, but EverStart batteries have been unbeatable for me. I had one in a DSM that lasted for 9 years before beginning to die often. I have one now that I swap between Hondas that is 13 years old. While not used daily, it starts the cars everytime. Hell, I had a Subaru with a red top Optima battery that died after 2 years, I installed a Walmart EverStart battery and the owner is still running it today - 4 years later.

As for what I'm working on today, that would be preparing for tornadoes/tornadic activity. Everything has been moved inside to prevent additional flying debris and I'm ready at any moment to move down in the underground area. It's all talk at the moment, but this is said to be the most severe storm since 2011. Things are changing quickly so we'll see. Until then I'm drinking beer and observing from a lawn chair. The storms in 2011 took so much from me that fear doesn't remain.

Well I finally bought some parts for my 72 Dart Swinger that I bought 6-8 years ago. It needs body work done and everything. Within last 2 weekend I have bought a big block 727 trans and a complete big block 400. Both need redone but the pricing was right so I finally bite the bullet. Hopefully this keeps me motivated to try and tackle body work this year

I aired up the tire that keeps losing air in the 3000. I'm pretty sure I checked it and added air on New Year's Eve, because I drove it to the shop to get the state inspection done. When I checked it today all the tires, except that one were still full.

I also crawled under the dash and unhooked the neutral safety switch, as it's been causing issues. I also took apart and fixed the release switch on the glove box. I also replaced a bad headlight bulb. I pulled the dome light cover to look at the "burnt out" bulbs to find one had fallen out, and two more were just loose. Topped off the power steering fluid and took it for a quick jaunt.

Need to look at a few more things. Might actually drive it to work occasionally this year.

Just got done installing a giant 360mm AIO CPU cooler in my PC. Didn't feel right having a cheap $25 air cooler on a $400 CPU. It just barely fit in the case and cleared the motherboard VRM heatsinks. Thank goodness 3 people on Reddit confirmed this cooler would truly fit. I was getting error codes for RAM and it failed to boot afterwards. Turns out I wasn't getting a good seat on it because this silly RGB stick needed some of the space of the GPU to install properly. So in went some non-RGB Gskill RAM sticks and first boot they were at full speed and running perfectly. Productive hour waiting for laundry to dry.

Keep us updated, Solomon. @BLACK'98DSM

We are ready over here too, although I’m about to have to drive to work in it.
All is well here, but I've heard from others that cars were flipped over further North. I messed around in the shop and on the lawn for a few hours watching and didn't see much besides a few tree limbs down. The rough storms missed me, which is great. Hoping for a quick recovery of others.

We never got mandatoried here so we skated by unharmed too.

2012! It has lived a good life. Mount it on the wall with a plaque 😆

You should start a thread on this build in the non DSM section. I would love to see your Dart come to life, especially with a B block shoe horned in there !!

Wife came home with the passenger brake on the '03 Durango grinding to a halt on Friday, so had to do some emergency surgery over the weekend. Inner pad was shaven all the way down to metal on metal. Replaced front rotors and pads. Easy job for the most part....surprisingly, i didnt take a single photo... 🫤 While i was trying to find leverage on getting the caliper bolts off, I was underneath the truck and saw some rust that has me concerned. Realization that Im on borrowed time and need to start looking for something else since I touched an area and it just disintegrated into a powdery mess. Chicago winters are brutal on the undercarriage and is quick about it too. As much as I love cars, I hate the process of shopping for another one and as much as I hate Chryslers... this truck kind of grew on me over the 6 years that Ive had it. Have been considering a 14-18 Tundra or a 15-17 Expedition to replace.

I made a 6h round trip on Sunday to pick up this mill/lathe combo from a fellow DSMer in Mass. It needs some love but it will be a nice little project to mess around with.

Been putting in a few hours here and there getting this thing up to par, it's been sitting for many years so the ways, chuck and other bare parts were all covered in surface rust. Some elbow grease and cleaning products, it's coming out great, doesn't even look like the same chuck anymore.

Also picked up a collet chuck and a 5" vise for the milling portion, which in hindsight is probably a little too big for the machine ROFL I can always take the swivel base off to gain some height.

Got the motors wired up too, which was tricky seeing as most of the wiring had been removed before it was disassembled and I had no diagrams to go off of with this oddball machine (I've since found a scanned pdf of the original manual) and made some chips! I have to do a lot of ajustments to get the slack out of everything but it's proving to be a very capable little machine, even the power feed works!

I just might but it will definitely be a long slow process. I dont even have any pics of the car on my phone. Just been sitting in my buddies garage. Next time im there ill try and get some pics

My end goal is a 512 stroker with twin turbos, efi, manual valve body with ratchet shifter, tubbed with some thick rear tires and all the other supporting mods. If it ever happens. Thats another story. Nice to dream right? 🤣😂

Going to be working on getting more photography experience.. attending car shows and events more this summer. Now that the Talon is running, I have something to bring to one besides a CX5
Picked up a RF 70-200 2.8 to help with those event action shots. Don't have the trinity yet, still missing one.. but only a few thousand at a time
LOL

Bought a 2018 Mercedes Glc63 and decided to drive it from Seattle to Ohio (2400 mile/3 day trip). I was very impressed how it drove. Plus the scenery was amazing!

Yesterday I pulled the headlights out of the 3000GT. I cleaned up the buckets and underhood area a little, then I replaced the bulbs with new HID lows and new LED highs. One of the highs went out, and the color on the lows was a little different and drove me crazy.

Today I started looking into a power steering leak on the Lancer. I am 99% sure its just a weak clamp on the hose where it changes to hard line. I degreased it and hosed it down, and before things could dry up it started raining. It's been leaking for several months now and only a few days ago worried me as I saw actual evidence of the leak in the driveway. It will be okay for a few more days til I can get back to it. I think I might just squeeze the factory clamp and let it go down to the hard line, then open a worm clamp and put it back together to avoid taking the line off and making a potential mess. I can cut the factory clamp off if it annoys me enough.
