3-2 money shift is like 10500rpm in 2nd. That will definitely do some damage.
I think I found the culprit as to why it wasn’t starting. I never removed the crank gear. I was worried I missed something as it’s a big job but hopefully it fires up when the new one comes in 🤞

I'm honestly afraid of doing squats. I think I actually tore ligament(s) in my left knee years ago and never got it looked at. I think that's a big contributor to my swelling when I run. I can just be standing there and my knee will "kick out" and I have to catch myself so I don't fall.

If I'm my desk for an extended time when I go to stand up I have to physically straighten my leg, then the first few steps are a little rough, then it's "normal"
So squats really helped me recover from the same affects your describing with your knee, I had a scan done and was told by VA I have arthritis and surgery is the only solution, LOL no thanks by also incorporating jump roping it definitely tightened up all that looseness I was experiencing in my knee before it was like a creaky loose table chair made noise and all.

That will do it. I've seen that happen a couple times. Will make guys chase their tails.

Last week I broke a front axle on my ATV pushing back snow banks, finally got the replacement today and got it swapped out.

Yes it's been welded before....multiple times :p

My cousin stopped by with a Kia Rio he picked up as a work beater. He told me his brake light started flickering, to which I immediately said his brake fluid was low. He said, "Correct, which is why I stopped by." Long story short he was attempting to add brake fluid, you could see it was low, and it wouldn't drop below the "filter" in the reservoir. Then it would bubble, and drop down, then not again. We got it to go to the low line, and he jumped in, started it and pumped his brakes. He looked again and said "Where did my fluid go? It was just to the low line, and now it's below it again."

I laid down and noticed the inside of the left rear tire was wet. He got under it and somehow the banjo bolt was loose. He owned the car for a month, and never had an issue til recently. Anyway, he tightened it up, and the leak stopped. I decided to pull the "filter" and the reservoir took all the fluid necessary, so he was safely back on the road.

Yesterday, I ran my Lancer through the touchless car was because it was white from the salt. It got a lot off, but still looked terrible. Once it warmed up a little I went out and hand washed it. Today I gave the interior a quick wipe down, pulled the all weather mats and gave them a good cleaning, and then replaced my flickering dome lights.

Happened to me. Took out all the valves in my case. Nice catch if you "caught" it! :thumb:

Getting ready for another SBC build. Going with a Competition Cam matching 268. Should have the truck running this week. Will be checking out the status of the Bel Air drag build as well. 4 cylinders only hold half of my heart these days.

What truck?

I’m hoping I didn’t screw it going through all that to not time it correctly. Insert multiple timing jobs and mark checks with 0 lining up on the balancer. That would suuuuuccccckkkkk.

When I put in a new flat tappet cam these days, I always use Lucas Breakin Oil and Rislone ZZDP additive to try and prevent a lobe going flat during a 20-30 minute breakin. Upon first start, I immediately set the rpms to 2k or above to try to get the lifters to rotate and breakin properly. I saw a tip that another mechanic used, he drew a straight line on his pushrods so he could tell if they were spinning, like they should.
You're a good mechanic, but I just wanted to chime in is all. Use your own judgment, it has served you well so far. :thumb:
The 268H is a good cam, I've ran them in a few 350's with a noticeable increase in power and a good exhaust tone!

Beautiful grill marks on that middle one. I find myself doing it occasionally just for giggles.

Love me a good grilled burger. Grilled steaks a couple days ago. USDA Prime new york strips with some decent marbling.

I've been using that "green goo" for a while now. The Lucas assembly lube. It seems like even if we thoroughly prime them, the SBC still takes a second or two to read oil pressure after startup. The reason for this rebuild is the stock oil pump dying at only 74k miles.

Well at least you caught it. Ours just jumped ship and broke off, falling into the now none circulating oil :(

+1 for grillin' in the winter.
I'm a little ashamed it took me this long but it's also been dipping to -40 back there. Today it was +2C and I felt like some The Keg prime rib beef burgers.

I've been craving some grilled food but our grill is burried in about 3 feet of snow 😂
I think we may finally be out of the cold snap.

I have to shovel snow still, but that's only to shovel it onto the driveway so that it melts faster.
Unfortunately I have no idea where the road drain is.. we really should be marking them with orange poles before the snow falls.

My buddy texts me today. We've known each other 20+ years through the 3000gt community.

He says "Dude, I was conceptualizing some things and did a random Google, and look what popped up."

He sends me this screen shot. That's my car in my backyard from a picture I snapped awhile back.

Kind of crazy

I've found that almost any content publicly shared online can and will be regurgitated at some point. Thanks to this forum, and others like it, I can find a few of my old rides on Google Images by simply searching for the make, model and color. It's honestly quite intriguing.
