In my personal experience, and I realize this won't be the same for everybody...Stock 450's will support 32 lb/min at 100% duty. A 14B compressor wheel is a 30 lb/min (peak) compressor according to the map, though some have stretched this to...
I've been taking it easy on the car but I finally have over 100 miles on the build. The more I drive it the better things seem to get. I also got my exhaust all hooked up and it sounds great. Next up is body work and paint.
MHI turbos require very little operating pressure to survive...they're sort-of a rare breed in that sense. Even the factory 1G feed line from the head contains a restrictor. The concept behind a typical journal bearing turbocharger is to feed...
Mitsubishi can build a hell of a reliable engine when they want to. I remember my first ever car and DSM was a 4G37 1GB talon. It had like 0 compression on two cylinders and half compression on one…still ran until the day we ripped it out to 4G63...
Steel-It stainless steel spray paintBack when EGT probes were a thing, and the tuning method with AFC was to find the lean setting before the EGT temps jump ( which is actually the lean setting before knock and timing is being pulled back ) I...
It's been awhile but the swap is 100 percent complete. It runs but I'll have to sort out the idle surge it currently has. It has no leaks and everything is factory setup so it shouldn't be to hard to diagnose.
Worked on the car some today. Finally got some decent weather.Nothing exciting, but I figured it best to start with maintenance/repair. I dropped the t-case to Timesert a few holes on the trans. Also had to repair a hole up top for the trans...
Got these in the mail(fo’ free!) from @Widgmaster and they look awesome.Having them in my possession is honestly tempting me to 2GB Eclipse swap this thing. Then it wouldn’t be little eagle anymore though.Thoughts? To swap or not to...
I got sick of seeing these really fogged out yellow headlights, so I did something about them. Here’s how they were before. They’re yellow and faded bad. So I took my drill with an orange pad and hit them with some meguiars 105 ultra cut...
There is a replacement 383 in it now. I bought it on ebay from a fellow who had rebuilt it for his old mopar car, but decided to go 440 instead. I likely will rebuild the original one at some point, and put it back where it belongs. If the...
I'm guessing you're thinking about 2g pistons. They don't fit. It required custom machining to the rods you have. Years ago it was a "budget" solution. There are lots of piston options available now. Rather than incur the machining costs just buy...
As we have already mentioned in your other post, when the pistons contact valves, generally the contact marks on piston top is not the most concerned part. Damages on wrist pin boss and ring lands etc are, and which we can not see it without...
Mark all ur housings and the center housing so you can clock them correctly on reassembly...but i can see that the compressor wheel is damaged and has contacted the compressor housing ..so the new wheel and existing shaft need to be balanced at...
I do have a spare, untested transmission but my trans guy called and offered to guide me thru replacing the mainshaft. Of course he does it everyday so it sounded not too bad since it is all brand new and was shifting wonderful and firm. I have...
After the machine work is done. I have found "swirleys" of aluminum in the head after I had it machined. I only noticed because I put the head on a pc of plywood and when I picked it up, there was quite a bit of debris. I took the compressed air...
Thanks! Just plan on cleaning some things up and having a fun weekend warrior. Redoing brakes, adding a stereo, moving a bar on the cage, replacing some interior pieces. Needs a catch can set-up and a good pump gas tune. Might replace the...
Minor updates…Picked up a PFB grounding kit, took a bit but was worth the wait. I ended up swapping out the following:
- Battery to firewall
- Transmission to frame rail
- Intake manifold to firewall
And then adding
- Alternator to frameStill...
On to the passenger side.Pulled the fender, side skirt, straightened pinch welds, found more rust and stripped everything. To my surprise, it was better on this side in terms of the body but we had a casualty on the lower fender :(. After...
