2G Opinions on Valves, Springs, and Retainers? For 4g63

So I am in the midst of rebuilding my engine and I took it to a machine shop to get resurfaced, bores rehoned, etc... While we were both looking at everything that had to be done we looked at the valves and he said that if I chose to I could reuse the same valves and only had to replace the valve springs and seals.

My gut is kinda telling me to replace everything but I don't know. So I'm asking the pros on what I should do.

I just want be able to daily drive it and maybe down the road increase the hp but for right now I just want to be able to get it up and running.

These are the valve springs I'm looking at and the seals. From what I've read from other Threads: ( I also heard that Crower and Manley are pretty good)

Now if this is overkill I completley understand. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Stock dsm springs suck. The kiggly springs are nice. Stock valves are fine for your goals. I’ve had dozens of passes in the 10’s on them in an auto car holding 7000 rpm through the traps. Whatever you do, don’t go to over sized valves if you replace them. It kills port velocity.

Kiggly steel street springs are one of the best options for most stock to mild built DSM's. I'd highly suggest them, there's zero point in reusing old OEM if it's going to be apart.

We ran 7’s with stock valves, non ported head, kiggly springs and kiggly hla pressure regulator.

If you do get new valves, don’t get cheap oem replacements, get a good stainless valve. I’ve pulled the head off cheap valves in my personal car before.

For the valves? You think they would hand in hand with the springs and seals I was looking into? Or just go same brand for everything?

If you have stock oem valves, and the machinist says he can get them to seal correctly with little work, then I would save your money on other areas that have better returns for the dollar.

It’s not just new valves. The seats will need machined to match the new valves. Then the stem height needs to be within tolerance. Then you need to make sure the spring seat pressure is correct. The guides will need checked and honed or replaced. Some of this will need done regardless but still, its a can of worms that it sounds like you need not open for your stated goals of daily driving.

So just go with the seals and springs then and put the money towards other things? If I understand correctly?

Correct. Stock valves are still good up to around 500hp without issues.
Save the cost $ for another needed item.
