Well, I finally got my head back and now has the stock springs and retainers in it as well as the cams. I couldn't do all this being that I don't have all the measuring tools, etc.
But anyway, as for the shims the springs had, it was .460 inches so yeah, that's right darn near 1/2 an inch. So I came pretty close at eyeballing that.
Also, the titanium retainers are thicker than the stock ones so that may have been the problem as well.
Now as for the history of my head, my buddy in Colorado had originally bought it from FFWD back around the year 2000. He had adjustable cam gears on it and after throwing in the new motor, it ran for about a minute before bending all the valves cause he didn't tighten down the cam gears. Oops. I'm not sure who redid the valves on it but I'm sure it wasn't FFWD. The valves and all were brand new, but sure they didn't really check out the geometry of everything. Well, hopefully it won't be an issue now. Trying to throw it all back together now. Really anxious to see how it'll work with the stock cams. And as soon as I get a free moment, pics will be up. Possibly this weekend, if not sooner.
