How to Identify an EPROM ECU [Merged 5-9]

So I guess we are all in agreement it is an EPROM, but will it work exactly, and I mean EXACTLY like a 95 GSX EPROM? I don't want to have to sacrifice anything, and I have no idea how a EPROM from another car ended up in KillaDSM's friend's car.

If I could get more chime in from other DSMers, or DSMlink representatives, that be cool :D

Email Thomas Dorris (DSMlink maker). He might have ran into this before with all the work he's done with ecu's.

I think it may be the same as our 2G ECUs, but I can't tell for sure just from pictures. Do you mind sending it in and letting us take a closer look and test it on the bench? I'll include our address below just in case.

Well.. damn.. if Thomas is unable to say if it is a 2g EPROM just by the pictures, I have no idea how it was inside a 2g GSX...

I think I will probably just pass on this eprom, get one I know is from a 2g gsx, pull it out myself :D

Haha yeah, I was thinking if you return it I would try running it in my car to see if it runs or not. But yeah let me know what Thomas says, because I'm very curious to see whats up with the eprom. And you know you can over come over to my side of the bay to kick it.

That picture appears to show a '96 style ECU (MH6311F processor) with an EPROM. I've heard these are really rare, so I'm not sure the ECU will turn out to be a good source for new EPROM ECUs or not. But that's why I'm curious to see it in person. We can look it over carefully here and test it in our cars and let you know 100% if it's compatible or not.

Definitely keep us updated. Thanks!:thumb:

hmm... to run a rare 96 EPROM ECU and be special and have something no one else has, or to be normal but steady with a real 95 EPROM.. now my mind is gonna blow up. Maybe the 96 EPROMs add 20hp because they have super fast CPU chips on the board and make .0000000000000000001 seconds to calculate stuff!?!?

I have been given a choice, and have no idea what I'll do LOL. Gonna send the ECU in and see what is up at least, I am looking foward to being able to make a small contribution to the benefit of DSM engine management technology weeeeee!

If Tom doesn't, I will post up the results of his tests, if this is simply just a rare 96 EPROM from an eclipse, I bet it would be real hard to make this a new source, but if it is from a "normal" mitsubishi car from europe, well, people may be making trips over there and sending them over seas heh.

It is late, bleh. night guys.

Well I got the eprom sent over to Tom, but it looks like he is pretty busy over there. I decided to take his offer to swap the ECU for a 95 EPROM, but hopefully he can still find time one day to let us know what is up with it.

Gotta admit, this may be the first time I honestly can say a comapny will be getting business from me in the future because of a good experience. I work sales at an electronic store, but god damn, Tom got customer service down!

Just updating, as if anyone cares :p
