Also make sure that your palm cradle is set up in the right format.

ok??? I have tried a few things but, still nothing happens. I have no cradle for the pda, my computer has 3 usb ports and a video port but, no serial ports??? all I am using is a usb to rs232 adapter cable and the hotsync manager is running in my task bar but, still nothing??? I know I asked this before but, can't I just hook my palm IIIx to my palm IIIc and transfer the software that way because this is really starting to bug me

When you open the hotsync manager, it would have an icon down in your taskbar. Its red and blue, has two arrows, red and blue, pointing at eachother. Right click on it, and make sure both "Local USB" and "Local Serial" are checked. Then try to hotsync it again. I had to do this with my old palm on my laptop, used the same cord as you, and it took me about an hour to figure it out. Hope this works.

ok, well I'll try it like that but, maybe the problem was that the local usb was the only thing checked. I didn't know the local serial had to be checked also. thanks

thank you :) :thumb: that's what was wrong, after I checked the local serial and local usb, I finally installed mmcd software. :) now I can look at the graph or numbers in color (P.S. I gave you a rep point)

Make sure you have SERIAL selected as the type of connection and not USB or anything else.

I'm having problems getting the palm hotsync. When I connect the wire from the palm to the computer it doesn't read it. I tryed it in 2 diffrent computers but it won't read the cable.

If the cable is bad can I replace it? It's a palm M515 with the little stand.I'm not sure what there called.

The little stand is called the cradle. You can find hot sync cradles & cables all over ebay if you need to replace yours.

When you connect to the computer & attempt to hot sync, do you have the hot sync manager open?

I can't get my palm lllxe to hotlynk to my computer via serial cable. It says connection not available. I just need to get the software onto the palm. I have the software on a disk. The software is mmcd and I tryed to use palm desktop.

How long have you had your palm? You need a hotsync cradle . Have you ever hotsynced it with your pc? Im looking in to your model of palm to see if all you need is the cable .

I've had it for a day. I've never hooked it up to the computer.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Munster000, I have to do the same thing now so, I'll try to explain how I did it (palm IIIx) when I download the softwafe from the disk then you will see the blue and red circle in the bottom right cornner (hotsync icon) you will need to click it and then put a check mark on "local usb" and "local serial" now, you need to turn the pda on and cick hotsync, it will show your connection and for this I made this custom connection, when you click hotsync it shows your connection, you will see the hotsync tab above the hotsync connection icon, click it and click connection setup, click custom. click network and click serial as your connection and now your ready to hotsync. after this you do know have to prepare the mmcd software for a hotsync, right

If I'm confusing you please, pm me and I'll send you pictures showing you how it's done step by step :thumb: (all you need is a hotsnyc cable and usb to serial cable)

I gotta bring this back up. I have Hot Sync Manager running, the tab is checked for local serial (its a serial cable), COM1 is chosen under Palm Desktop (correct port, verified through Control Manager). Hot Sync on the Palm is set for Local - with a cradle/cable connection.

Now if I choose Log from Hot Sync in the Palm, MMCD is not an option. However, if I go to MMCD, and click "upload log via hotsync", nothing happens. I try going to MMCD Tools on the desktop, and click File>Open, but I don't find anything helpful.

Please help.

And if I go on the Desktop, Hot Sync, view Log, it says the log cannot be found.

Wow, I didn't know you had to click on that box for the cradle/cable. I just thought that was a display box. Anyway, I loaded one log no problem, but the next one keeps getting stuck on the "exporting data" screen and doesn't progress. Anyone one how to fix that?
