How to Identify an EPROM ECU [Merged 5-9]

How do you know if you have a 95 or 96 I was told this is a 96 but not sure it says

And it dose have the chip in it and it came from an tsi can any one tell me if it is a 96 or 95 and can it have the 3.0 dlink ?

The only year the eproms came in was 95 so it seems that you would have a 95 eprom ecu. 75 is a steal for one anymore considering they go for about 200 or so.

Inside it says 1672 e or b and chip says eb23d can any one tell me what the software is to link it to a laptop and do upgrades to the tunning ?

Dsmlink...Ecu needs to be socketed and chipped..

Or socket the ecu, buy a chip burner, and burn your own tune..

Yes, you have all the right numbers, and you stole it for $75.
I highly recommend that you have it professionally socketed, as the 2G traces are very fragile when compared to a 1G. After socketing you can run one of my DSMChips, a DSMLink setup, a Moates Ostrich emulator, or burn your own chips.

Nope. That "T" in the lower right hand corner is a give away.

One of my friends gave me an Ecu out of a 2g talon Tsi, AT i think and i was wondering if it was Eprom or not . code on the top is , MD304481 , E2T60885 , 3728 E , Mitsubishi Electric corp , right side says 4481 E2T60885 , sorry if this is a Noob question , or if its already been answered , thanks

Are you sure that's the right model number? (MD304481) That is a non-turbo 1g, fwd, automatic ecu. Also, to be sure if any ecu is eprom, you can open it up to see.

But why does it look different from the other non eproms I see?
This is out of a 90 GSX, the funny thing is I thought all 1990s had eproms?

1990 ECUs are just laid out different (and have some different circuitry) compared to 1991-1994 ECUs. Notice that you also have four vertical riser boards compared to three in the picture off our website in your post. The 1990s are just different.

That's a myth. Your holding proof that it's a myth. There wasn't any year of DSMs where they were all EPROM ECUs. Just wishful thinking on somebodies part that got written down.

Hey whats up guys? I decided to finally check to see if my ecu is eprom or not, took a look at the case and it has a T instead of an E, but I've read that doesn't really mean if it's eprom or not so I opened it up. I look at it, and it looks different than the ECU's i see in other threads. Can you guys help me identify if it is or not? thanks

On the bottom right chip it says "EL62" and the ECU number is JE331B719C

It looks to me just like what a MD309947 95 FWD non-EPROM ECU should look like.

Sorry for bringing up the dead but I'm trying to find out if mines eprom...don't think so but want to be sure. I ran all the #s and it's a 97 turbo but it's the black box, not the metal and whether or not it's eprom, I wanted to see if it can still b chipped so I can run link. That is not an Eprom and it cant be converted so it cant be used for ecmlink, but it is a flashable ECU
