The stock lower intercooler pipe pops off my Big T28 Killer when it starts to boost. Why? Do I need a hard pipe? Well i'm leaking coolant and have to go tighten this bolt down. Please give some advice Im stumped.

When I made my IC pipes for my MKIV SMIC, I took the pipes to an exhaust shop and asked them to put a few beeds around the pipe. I then took the pipes home, smoothed the beeds down a little, repainted and whalla, no problems.

Get some extra hold hairspray, when it dries its like glue. Believe me, I use it and it works..20psi with no beads on the pipes and it holds fine.

23psi here with the "speed spray" I'll bet I coudl take my hose clamps off and they would still hold on LOL. I had to take on off and it took some work to get the hairspray to let go. It didn't leave a mark or anything just made a "bond" when it dried and damn it holds.:thumb:

tell me you didnt buy that gh3y piping on ebay.

Go to NAPA they have those Tclamps for under $2 each. I have nevr had a T clamp come off.

I have with a unbeaded pipe. Serisously get the pipes beaded or make a bead with some JB weld because it will never stay on there with a lot of boost.

Well i went by NAPA and they didnt have a small enough size t clamp. So we bought some JB Weld and made the beads like suggested...and also cleaned out the insides of the sleaves with paint thinner....seems to be workin fine now

also put my QTP cutout on :thumb:

thanks for the tips guys

I just installed my FMIC a few days ago and it ran just fine.....until now. For the past couple of days my lower intercooler pipe keeps blowing off, even when I'm only pushing 2-3 psi. I'm starting to think that the coupling is too big even though it said it was for 2" piping. BTW my pipes aren't beaded.

t-bolt clamps they cost ALOT more that worm drive but i have never blown one off... that at 23+ psi on non-beaded piping..

you can pick them up fairly cheap on ebay..

A cheap and easy fix I've heard of is to spray hair spray on the pipe, then slide the rubber coupling on. It should stick, my buddy's pipes say on with that...I haven't had a problem with it, or I'd do it too.

Get a coupler that fits snug, and make sure it is not at an awkward angle.

In my experience this is all that matters.

#### beading and t-bolts. Flare the ends with pliers and stick with worm gears ;)

never tried it on ic pipe, but I just got done putting on a new valve cover and gasket sealer is very sticky, I would say if you are thinking or using hair spray try gasket seal it will hold much better.

Gasket sealer typically does not harden and would do nothing.

get some T-bolt clamps, they are bout $2.60 each from napa and worth every cent. Blowing the coupler off at night or going to work sucks. I've boosted 22-23psi daily on un-beaded and ghetto beaded pipes w/o a prob. I also use 2.5" striaght radator hose from napa, it's $15 per foot but it's triple layered and won't flex alot like the silicon ones.

My top ic pipe blows off but only if Ihold it at 5 psi in 4th or 5th gear for anylength of time. My car peaks over 20 psi (that is as high as my boost guage goes) and used to hold that with no problem but just had head rebuilt and this crap started.
