Hello

Been pulling my hair out the past few days trying to look at upgrade paths from my current FP green. Did about 417 to the wheels on 93 octane in the fall but I’m looking to be in the 600 range on e85 and being able to also use a 93 octane map when needed (obviously Lowe power). The car is street driven so I don’t want to oversize it where it’s not enjoyable.

Current setup:
FP green
1100cc injectors
Fmic
Walbro 400lph
Built 2.0l
8an feed line
6an return line
Evo 3 intake manifold
Fp exhaust manifold
ECMLink

Looking at potentially changing over to a haltech s2/1500 with an ic7 digital dash, having an exhaust manifold made if needed and upgrading injector size to suit. With the haltech I would plan to have a 93 octane map and a race map made as sometimes it’s not easy to find race fuel unless I buy the cans.

I’ve seen options for turbos ranging from hx40, pre 6062 gen 2, 6262, fp black and Xona x3.

Was hoping to get some more current recommendations or if there’s another I should be looking at, most of the info I’ve found seems to be a bit outdated.

Appreciate the help

Water meth cost less than injectors / pumps / other fuels , but yours should be fine I’m at 530 with 750cc nearly maxed out.

I can’t recommend anything turbo because I’m just not versed enough in the topic.

I have whatever this is :

Thanks. I have a methanol setup already installed but was going to get away from it and run e85 when needed.

You are wasting your time moving to a real ecu with such a basic car. Unless you want or need the fancy features and safeties. I prefer FuelTech 10/10 over a Haltech. I am pretty biased though.

You need quite a bit more fuel system before you need to be thinking about more turbo. You have another 100hp to go with what you have. Max that out and see if you still need more. 600 is just a number and most people have no clue on how fast that really is.

I would strongly urge you to look at something in the 62-64mm range in either a t3 or t3 sized vband housing. If you try to make 600hp with a stupid ass bolt on flange, you are just shooting yourself in the foot. Pulsar, VSR, Garrett, PTE, On3, there are no shortage of affordable or expensive turbos. Pick one you can afford and rock it out.

You also cannot have your cake and eat it with a little engine. If you want 600hp with 122 cubic inches, you won’t make peak torque until 5500-6000rpm. Or more. That is a simple fact. If you cannot handle that, then leave the car alone. If you want low end torque, sell the car and get something with a real engine.

Or build a compound turbo system. Which I am for and have done four systems so far.

Last night I was looking at potentially staying with the fp line between the red and black. If I go this route and stay on pump gas with methanol I’m assuming I would need to upgrade my injectors and potentially go with a dual pump especially on the black?

A single "525" would be just fine for your needs.

A lot has been mentioned about your power goals but what about the trans? For 600HP, I would not getting anything bigger than a 60/61mm sized turbo and there's tons of options. On a 2.0L you are still looking at getting full spool around 5,000rpm usually to make that HP but revving to 9,000rpm you can have a very fun powerband still. Any reason you don't want to stick to ECMlink? Will you be tuning the standalone? Setting it up? Wiring it etc?

If you want to stay with FP have you looked at the FP Zero ball bearing? I have been eyeballing that one. No exact number goal. Just like certain parts from research and going to see where they all wind up for hopefully and good street/track setup.

I spoke to FP and they recommended going either with the black or zero, if I wanted to go a step above that and go with a custom manifold they were saying HD3582 is a good budget option or a Xona XRC5964s (non budget)

Trans was rebuilt with all parts from Jacks last year and we put sone billet shift forks in it as well. Clutch is from Southbend and will handle the power.

Was leaning towards haltech and pairing it with the digital dash and being able to have different maps at the turn of a dial. It also lets me go with an electrical TB which helps with another objective of mine which is cleaning up the engine bay. If I stay with ECMLink I would probably just try and find a used aem cd5 for the dash so I can eliminate all of my gauges and have it in one location to clean it up a bit

Was going to tuck the bay and move the fuse box to the glove box and make a custom harness for the car, battery has already been relocated to the trunk.

Don’t have any issues reving up, motor and head were both built by MAPerformance, I’d be ok with boost by 4500-5000rpm. Tuning will be done by someone local who can do either haltech or ecm. Would be much cheaper to stay with the ECMLink.

I’m trying to make the car everything I originally set out to, after this I plan on restoring my mk4 supra and want to make sure that this car is an alternative to drive so it doesn’t just sit in the garage later on if that makes sense

Nice ly friend has a ball bearing turbo I think is a fp, street car. Running haltech with factory dash for the oem look. But still has lots of after market stuff and is restored from the ground up. I mean strip painted down to the chassis its in d sport magazine jp Joans 1ga

I have a HD3582 as a backup turbo. Never ran it yet tho.

Attached the dyno sheet for reference

I don't see boost on there anywhere, unless it's the "pressure" next to temperature? So 30lbs?

That’s on a red, straight pump gas no meth?
That’s on the turbo in my very first post idk what it is ? Because I can’t find any guide to understanding turbo dimensions ratios ect.

I have no idea I just know bigger turbo = more giggles 🤭

I’m making 530 @ 5.5k-rpm , 25psi on 750s on 93 octane.

I think 🤔 it’s been reiterated that you are well below maxing your fuel ⛽️.
I would love to see a dyno sheet or time slip to back this claim up.

I even had a video ; but I brake phones 📱 often.

Just like kids are proud of their drawing ✍️ I’m proud of my sheet ; that’s why it’s been on my fridge all these years.

Think I’ve finally made a decision after speaking with Justin. The car will be going a bit of a different direction as it’s only going to be driven 1-2 times a week so figured going to an HX40 with a billet wheel and pair it with an AGP housing machined down to fit the 64mm turbine. All v band and have a manifold made and pair it with the 38mm tial gate I already have.

I’m most likely just going to stick with 93 octane and meth Injection but if there is a chance I go with e85 as a second map do I just pick up a set of 2150 injectors to be safe instead of say a 1600. I’ve heard scaling them back sometimes the idle isn’t great?

Fuel pump is currently a 400lph, odds this needs to be upsized to a 525? Also was looking at the full blown dual hanger as my current hanger isn’t in the best shape.
