There's another aspect to this discussion that I think might be getting lost: telling someone who regularly visits DSMtuners and works on their car, "Don't mod it!" is like telling a crack addict not to hit the rock.

I didn't listen to that advice, either, so I suspect many DSMers will ignore it as well. It cost me a fortune with the old 3000GT car--blown engines, blown trannies, broken everything.

You guys simply don't realize what road racing does to a car and engine. 20 minutes at WOT is like a lifetime of drag racing. Stockers can take it better than modded cars.

If your goal is to learn how to race, stick with a mostly stocker for the first year.

If your goal is just to blow the doors off Z06es down the straight, then go for it. Some guys actually do make it around with a brake and shoot approach. They are the ones that get passed by Miatas in the twisty bits, then repass on the straights, until the car dies in a cloud of smoke.

When you start taking your car home on a borrowed trailer event after event, don't say we didn't warn you.

Well I'm starting to rip into the car for next season, I ready to try some NASA HPDE next season. As I'm in the middle of the Mid Atlantic and South East regions I have alot of event's I could attend. I bought a Big 16G from FP last week to bring my cars power back to a reasonable power level and faster spooling, my only other plans for the car are:

Stoptech Brakes
ST rear Swaybar Kit
Nitto NT-01 Rubber Maybe 245's
any hopefully a LSD and tranny rebuild

What do you guy's think about going back to a big Side mount I/C? My cars tight with Oil cooler,FMIC and power steering cooler all up front. Mybe a new front bumper upgrade to open everthing up?

I'm working on my traction this winter. I will be replacing all the bushings in my suspension, getting new suspension, and finally a good set of tires. Hopefully all of this will lower my 60' times and net me lower et's. :thumb:

The new front bumper idea is good. I think i'm going to try and cut mine in half and extend it with some fiberglass so that the openings are all larger. I am also going to be running a trans cooler on the pass side, as well as a different P/S cooler, a huge oil cooler, and the FMIC/Rad... I've been working trying to get it all to work, and work well. We'll see what happens

I found this front bumper today, I think it's going to work great for cooling everything. I like the fact I can remove the stock oil cooler and replace it with a bigger aluminum unit in one of the side scoops.

I've been looking at that front bumper cover myself. I'm still not sold on it though because I'd still have to probably add a chin spoiler to it for better aero.

When I go to SEMA I might just have to stop at some booths to talk about getting a good front bumper cover made for the 1G guys - something for those of us who aren't going full trailered race car, yet want all the benefits of a bumper that is designed for a car with a FMIC, and has provisions for brake ducts and still has good aero capabilities. It shouldn't be too tough.

This is the road race/autocross forum my friend - 60' times aren't as important in here. It's all about traction in the turns :)

That would be sweet if someone made a subtle, effective nose. I'd buy it in a minute if it had the necessary slots, a bit of a splitter deal and didn't look like some 11 year old video game addict designed it.

Andys also lists a carbon fiber evo style hood for a 90-91 eclipse? I'm hoping it's for the our cars not the 93's If a company was going to make a few good parts this would be on the top of my list, rather than buying 3 hood scoops from carbon trix.

I have considered getting the vent from an Evo who switched to a carbon fiber hood and having a body shop put the Evo vent onto my carbon fiber hood. I like the way it looks better than the cabrontrix vents.

Ahh my buddy had that bumper on his old 1g. Thing didn't fit for hell until we put some work into it. I believe that's the same bumper that Greg runs. I've considered it for my car before, but I'll most likely just stick with what I've got right now.

Mavisky your car is awsome, perhaps you should toss on some clear corner lights, a roll bar and some racing seats if you dont have those yet. Other than that your car looks like it has everything. Reminds me how I eventually want my car to turn out.

Whenever I get my cars new engine running, im just going to be focasing on transmission ( rebuild, clutch, lsd insert ) and then working with cooling stuff like, upgraded air to oil cooler, koyo radiator, fmic, maybe a tranny cooler, and then moving to brakes and suspension, racing seats, and considerably a roll cage before I start tracking it and laying down big power numbers.

I'd buy the clear corners if I could talk myself into saving up for them. My usual "racing headlight setup" includes one black molded inlet and matching black driver's side headlight. I may make side lights to match them eventually. Gives teh car a sinister look with the black hood too.

Rollcage is an intended modification, but they're not terribly cheap and although I could weld one in with my flux core welder it may not be as safe as a professionally mig welded setup. I'm currently looking at a good setup from www.competitionengineering.com .

Car's got a Corbeau Forza in the driver's position and the stock passenger seat has been slotted on the rear to allow the harnesses to pass through.

Thanks for the compliments though.

Greg uses the Drift bumper(or a clone) at the bottom of this page.

Greg, you're so good to your sponsors.:)

I still think that I'm going to get a cheapo bumper off of another car and play around with hacking it up. Can't hurt, and is sure as heck cheaper than buying a bumper. I think I need another hood to hack up as well.

All I have to say is I NEVER thought getting front brake rotors off of a car could possibly take that much time, effort, and curse words. :toobad: I am fixing that retarded problem once and for all. :notgood:
