Winter 07/08 Projects and Plans?

What I am going to be doing is making templates from poster board then using some aluminium to make my dusting towards the radiator and intercooler. I have some ducting inlets as well I may figure a way to carry air from the side of the main peice to the intercooler as well. Have to really get in there and see how much room we have to work with before any of that can happen though. Loads to do as always.

I will also be making a cardboard template, then making it out of some thin sheet metal or thin aluminum. What I did for the 2 air intakes on the sides are:

Left side: Used some brake cooler ducting but instead of going to the brakes, i routed it up into the intake filter. (pics to come shortly)

Right side will have ducting for the Oil Cooler.

^Very nice!!

My plan right now is to get a warm enough weekend day so I can go to my uncle's barn, roll the car out, and get it fired up as I havn't touched it since Thanksgiving!!

I'm going to be a safety steward for my local SCCA region this year so hopefully I can get some free racing as money is tight and HPDE is going to be my focus. Nothing really planned for the car except keep the maintenance up for the season.

Well last year I restored a dsm that was siting at a junker garage in hick town........

This year is build up.
parts I have and need to install:
evoIII
660cc
wideband
3'' exhaust
safc
mbc
o2 housing
fmic w/hard pipe
gm mas
18'' rims
2gb skirts, rear and front bumper, turbo spoiler.
boost, oil press gauges
slim fans
255lph pump w/rewire
fpr
all fuel lines, oil lines, clutch lines
act clutch/flywheel

need to buy:
evo calipers and jdm galant knuckles

Finished up my air ducting:

I used some thin sheet metal (painted it flat black) to direct air from the sides of the main opening in the front bumper so that it has to flow through the radiator. Kind of hard to see in the pics, but hopefully you understand:

Left inlet on the bumper: I used some air ducting i bought and routed the ducting so air comes in the left inlet on the bumper and goes up through the inner fender and then into the air filter. At high speeds one would think that should help:

For the right side air inlet on the bumper, I will be making some air ducting for the engine oil cooler after it gets installed.

Moved the gauges to this A-Pillar pod. Gauges used to be down in the radio bezel thing.

If someone made a nice sunroof delete plug thing it would sure save me some grief, and maybe even some money:

Looking good Andy. I'll be fitting the FP mani on this Friday and redoing my recirculation pipe as well. New brake pads will hopefully be in by then so I can finish that up as well.

You'll be doing work on your car????? OMG

LOL !!! Yeah I know. You should call Guiness Book of Records shouldn't you ??? Sometimes its fun, sometimes it isnt. I just drive :D But dont worry, my mechanic will be there as well. :thumb:

ha, cool, make sure to get some pics of your track slut!

Yeah I will man. We will actually have some family members there this time, being the last event of the year and all. Awards ceremony & banquet after the fianl race that evening as well. Hopefully they can get some of me during that as well. We'll see though.

I am going to do that. I have talked to the series director and he is actually going to let some of my people go up into the tower and around the track to get some better shots of the races (as well as me) from different angles as well. Should be some good pics. I am alos going to try very hard to get my camera in there for some in car videos of the races as well. Have to get a 4 GIG memory card, but its worth it to get some good action videos of the Talon in the mix you know?

Not sure if this is allowed as its not totally DSM related,

DSM gets moved asside for the next few weeks until the sunroof is gone. And while thats being done, i bring home the "other" project that I have been workin on for a while:

What's all that funny looking white stuff on the trailer? Is that sand from the beach? Oh my bad, its snowing up there still isnt it? My bad, I'll be at the beach if you need me Andy LOL LOL

Sorry bro......

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....Sorry man, couldnt resist that one.LOL :D ROFL

Not funny, bro.

In the midst of the Global Warming Hoax, us folks in the Midwest have been suffering through one of the coldest and snowiest winters on record. Here in Iowa, we are having the 7rh snowiest winter in 150 years, are only 3 inches of snow away from the Top Three, and there are 10 days left in the month.

For the past six weeks, temperatures have been hovering around zero most of the time, often dipping down to 10 below. I bought my BMW and brought it home on the only day in weeks when the roads were clear, and haven't driven it since. It got into the 30s one day, and it felt like spring.

To get the trailer out of the backyard, so my buddy Jon can take his 3000GT down to St Louis to get a cage installed this weekend, we had to use two snowblowers to clear a 150-ft path through 12 inches of accumulated snow.

For the past two weeks here in Iowa, we have had "snow packs" accumulating on the roads. This is sorta like the infamous black ice on Michigan rally roads, but this stuff is on interstates and paved secondary roads, and can't be plowed off. Literally HUNDREDS of cars have slid off the roads into the medians or get buried in snowbanks. My buddy Jon drove 50 miles from here to Waterloo, Iowa, on I380 and counted 40 cars off the road on one side going up, and 32 cars off the road on the other side coming back.

It's snow fun. I don't mind the snow too much, but the unrelenting cold is getting to be depressing. Gawd, I wish we really were suffering Global Warming.

Not trying to be funny about the weather conditions at all. Just giving Andy some good ribbing is all. I suffered my fair share of cold winters in Alaska for 2 years. Believe me, I know what cold is. Rolling into North pole (north of Fairbanks) at 3 in the morning and seeing it was -57....And yes, I said negative 57 below zero. I did not like it, I was almost misserable. But I was playing Junior B hockey up there and had to do it.

Thats why we moved to Florida. It hardly EVER gets "cold" here man. Andy was down not too long ago and it was like 55 outside at night. It rained a bit, but not too bad Im sure. Right Andy? Plus Seville Quarter was kewl.

I do NOT envy anyone for having to put up with that weather. I did for as long as I had to and then got the hell out of there. Moved to Saskatoon where it was onlt -20 most of the time. :D Made my way to Florida around the year 2001 or so. And just never wanted to leave here. Cost of living is just right and the weather is great.

And then there are always the beaches. I dont think I could live anywhere now that wasnt at least an hour or less from a beach.

Yeah, you got it made down there eddie, what i would not give to be able to drive the talon year round. :coy:

If I found a good paying job with the flexability that i have now, I'd be loading up my car on the trailer, packing my stuff, throwing a 4-Sale sign in the front yard, and head on down!

Sorry, I shouldn't have snapped at you like that.
The winter blues must be getting to me.

No big deal Rich. I understood man. :)

Florida is the place to be man. I think anyway. monster.com Andy. Find you a job and come on down :thumb:

I had some plans for my galant, but getting a job in WI really put a damper on things. But on a side note, talonTSIdriver, I have the leather seats that originally came in your car. I picked them up from him this summer when I lived in PA. Weird that they would end up in the same state!
