Who is running solid mounts or inserts? I need to order some, just looking to see how bad they really vibrate. Suitable for a DD?

I used M3 window weld. Filled the entire front mount and one side of the back one, vibrates pretty good but not bad enough that it bugs me. I'm sure passengers may think it's a little rough but that's how I like it. You can definitely feel the vibrations in the steering wheel but it's not rattling my rear-view mirror or anything.

I have to agree with this. Its so cheap and easy why would you not want to do it? vibrations aren't to bad as long as theres nothing in your door panels thats loose shaking around like my car... I did it to my FWD and I've already started doing it to my AWD

Im a new dsm owner and i recently bought a 92 Talon fwd with a N/T block, turbo head, 14b TD05, and a few other small mods but i got the car for 500 bucks. The car is running really bad, sounds like its missing. I bought a coil pack but havent installed it yet. It ran a 13.9 a the track before the problems. Any suggestions would really help me in my build 2 reach 12`s for now. Thanks.

Does anyone have good experience using slicks on a fwd with an open differential? I've always avoided it because I'm 90% certain this combination will just destroy a tranny.

What about the staging burnout? Any noticable wheel hop, or do the slicks eliminate this? What happens during the burnout when the RH wheel heats up and gains traction? Do the spider gears blow, or does the power successfully/smoothly transfer to the LH side?

What happens when a 4k rpm 10 psi 2-step is thrown in the mix?

I blew my dif on two nice launches on an open dif and slicks. The open dif cannot handle that as far as I can see. There was no wheel hop at all.

So I finally pulled the car out of the garage a couple weeks ago. My wife was sick so I took a few days off work and had some time to get stuff done, even though it's still far from finished.

Anyway, it was the first time I turned the boost up with the new turbo and fmic plus about 250lbs of weight reduction. All I have to say is "WOW!" I got it settled around 24psi and start spinning tires from a 3rd gear pull at about 70mph . The car is waaaay faster than my last setup, and it's still not done.

I still have to get a new fuel pump, drop my injectors and chip in, and e85 it. Also have about another 60lbs I want to take out of the car. On corn juice I plan to turn the boost up to around 28psi.

Also has anyone tried using awd drivers side halfshafts? Results after doing so? If you don't know what I'm talking about check out this thread.

I don't have any experience with the awd halfshaft, but I have a dual stage mbc and it makes a world of differece. I bought the dejon tool dual stage mbc here: DEJON | Powerhouse It's $90 and works great. Just as important as having a good mbc is being able to switch between lo and hi boost quickly (why have it otherwise). Being fwd, we don't need hi and lo for street vs race driving. We need it for low gears (low boost) and high gears (high boost). I bought an extra hazard button to use as my switch and installed it in the empty space in the dash.

whats up guys... Jus thought id share my sad sad day at sac raceway LOL.. Me and a buddy went last weekend and lets say i would have won the farthest burnout contest LOL I couldn't even break 14's my best time was 15.2 at 107 with a horrible 2.9 60ft.. on my 16g at infineon raceway my best time was 13.7 at 106 with a 2.4 60ft i believe. both on pump. But with the 50trim Its like I only get to pull 3rd gear hahaha

My FWD is down right now. I went to the track before winter and blew up my front diff with some nasty wheel hop. I was all stock only a clutch flywheel 3in exhaust and 20psi on a 14b and i was runnin 14.0 at 101mph. And i am running a AWD halfshaft setup with great results less back and forth with the steering wheel.

Wow I thought my 60' was bad LOL. What was the problem you think? Your suspension mods look pretty good, tires bald or somethin?

What was your 60' time? And I wonder what the awd halfshafts will do for a higher hp car? I don't have problems with torque steer since I deleted my ps, I'm just looking into it for traction.

Well this is the same car as in my profile but i removed everything and went back to stock. At 450-500hp i had no traction at all even in 4th so i decided to go AWD auto. Now given i never did a LSD or slicks but for that money i could just buy a AWD. But the car has AGXs with sprint springs that put it on the ground. That was the best thing i did for traction 2nd would be the halfshaft.

I have a FWD 2g on stock suspension struggling at the track too. I had a 16g@ 30lbs. With drag radials I was cutting 2.1s going mid 13s. Are coilovers really helping people who are making power? Im going with an hx35 and want to hear some other FWD peoples input who are actually making power.

I have slicks but still have an open diff so I still only cut a 2.0 on my first and only pass with them. I ended up running 13.8@77 cause I blew the connector to the coil pack off half way down.

Some of you guys in this thread still on the stock turbo should be able to put the power to ground easy. Just get some drag radials and you should be straight. Once you start getting over 300hp is where it starts getting crazy. I spin street tires till about 70 on my 16g

Wow I thought my 60' was bad LOL. What was the problem you think? Your suspension mods look pretty good, tires bald or somethin?

well I think the most part was due to my tires.. normally i ran a 225/40/18 but they were bald. I had a pair of BF goodwrich g force tires pretty much new, but the were 225/30/18 LOL.. though they would be better than my bald ones. but seemed to spin worse due to overall small diameter. I also have bad struts as well. Im planning on going to CMI's at Sac raceway this sunday. maybe ill throw my stocks on an lower the tire preasure an see what that gets me.

Hey guys I was looking for cheap ways to stiffen the rear to help reduce weight transfer and someone mentioned using "spring rubbers". Anyone have experience with them? They're pretty cheap but I don't know if they'll stiffen it up that much. I'd like to do something but really don't want to spend much more money on the fwd platform.

So no one else has tried equal length halfshafts? Maybe there's a reason our fwds are known to suck compared to other cars.

Also I'm going to make a dual stage boost controller using the bcs restrictor as shown in this thread. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...w-make-switch-street-race-boost-high-low.html

It's gonna be tiiiiight!

Believe the halfshaft swap is easy for the early 1g's, as far as I know the inner cups are the same between the shafts. Sometime during the 1g run they "beefed" up the fwd axles & they no longer would be a direct swap. I'm not sure what year they changed though.

May not be a real budget piece but the Apexi AVC-R is worth every penny for a fwd. You can set your desired boost for every gear, so its automatic, no worrying about hitting a button when you want to switch, you can have 5 different levels if you wanted.

I think you were talking about my post. I haven't tried them yet but in theory they should work. You figure if you have something wedged between the coils of the spring that prevents the compression therefore stiffining the spring. You can try either spring rubbers or they do make little plates with u bolts in them to install and you can set how tioght they are. They should be relatively inexpensive maybe 20-30 bucks for a pair if not less. Your local parts store should have them if not try a 4x4 truck store or a diesel repair shop.
