, lots of questions but that's a good mph, good for 11s if you can hook up, which is basically the point of this thread.FWDs are great. I retired my car in 05, but I just bought the car back and building it again. Car ran best of 9.81 in Cali and 10.00 here in Utah back in '04 on alot of "old school" parts. A FWD car setup correctly you can't go wrong. Best of luck guys!
Glad you're back, I remember your car. Still going to have the F&F decal on the sides?

All silver now.... kind of funny I actually had those back then !!
. I think silver will look great, of course i'm partial to the white/black combo myself.

.Can you share some tips with us please.
I feel your pain. There are no fwd's that are trying to go fast around here except for me. It's kinda cool being the only one though. I think it's just easier for people to buy an AWD and go faster. Whereas buying a FWD it takes more work and practice to run good times. I myself got tired of all the AWD's running 12's and 13's so easily, so i threw on some slicks and a 14b and started hanging with them.
I run a AWD trans setup for FWD use. (welded center diff) removed TCase shaft. Spool or Phantom grip in front diff.
1000 pound springs in the rear.
26" slicks in front, Skinnies in the rear.
Move all weight possible up to the front end, Battery, fuel cell, etc.

. Like maybe a way to get equal weight distribution over the front wheels, or any custom stuff that you've made. Other than that I guess the basic FWD formula is slicks, LSD, super stiff rear suspension raised to the max, skinnies in the rear, all weight moved to the front of the vehicle, solid enigne mounts, and some damn good driving.i just purchased my first dsm in june of last year. Its a 99gst with hopes of beating the local honda runnin 7.3's in the 1/8. I was all about hi hp until i came across this thread and ive enjoyed reading it...still have a lot of pages to go through...any way dont want to bore yall with a huge mod list, my set up is basic forged internals and built head....holset h1e...but what do u guys sugest suspension wise to get this thing to hook? Im shootn for 550 fwhp...i need to beat this hatch...that thing i siiiiiiick...
Anyone else running an automatic FWD setup? I'm getting a hell of a deal from a buddy of mine and am starting to just browse around to see if there's much else I can do. It has an IPT trans/stall, and I'm really wanting to go with a holset...would it be overkill or is there a chance of hooking up with a good tire?

I'm not sure how much an automatic would affect it, but on a stock FWD you won't hook before 3rd gear without some form of LSD and suspension and a holset. You're also going to need a ton more supporting mods for that turbo.
. I mainly lurk on here, but I know a good majority of what I'll need, thanks though. Suspension is done, has a built shortblock, blah blah blah. All I'm asking is how many other auto fwd street cars are there, if any, that run decent times. Is there a reason you used an awd trans other than the gear ratio? Very curious about this since the awd trans is so much heavier than the fwd.
i got a 91 eagle talon fwd with a 2.0l 6 bolt in it and when im done it aint gonna be any slow puppy. by the way ive heard of superchargers bein put on the talons any one have any feedback on them and how they work

No I meant the secret tips. Like maybe a way to get equal weight distribution over the front wheels
traction
I had a friend who followed that guide and he felt it made a big difference. The alignment makes sense, you want your contact patch as big as possible under launching conditions. I bet with coil overs you could get the weight distribution pretty much perfect at the track, and set it back so you're not lopsided on the street.
