Chances are you'll run into more problems later on if you don't have an experienced turbo shop rebuild it, like FP. Since your buddy works at a turbo shop, he should be able to tell you what parts it needs, unless there are other parts specially machined needed to make it all go together.

Seriously, save your money and send it to FP. I don't want to do a "I told you so" a month from now.

It looks like a standard grrett/mitsu hybrid with a 60trim compressor. The smaller one is probably a 50trim and the big a new GT 56trim wheel.

BTW My uncle and I are bolting on a 2.4L 4g64, along with many other mods. Im looking for a reliable 12 second car on pump gas (or whatever is possible with the stock ECU).

Im still kind of deciding between a 60, 50 or 56 trim. Ive read lots of crap and most seemed to say that 50trims are the pump gas kings. Is this true? Basically give me the lowdown on the 50's 56's and 60 trims. I think this is somewhat accurate information, but someone please correct this.

60 trim=race gas turbo, track turbo
50 trim=pump turbo? street?
56=?

It could be 1 of 15 different turbos. Your best bet would be to email turbonetics and ask them. Maybe they can remember from when the pic was took.

Ok so I bought this 6 bolt talon awd, and the shop owner Rob, gave me this turbo that was in the back of the car he told me that it was a small 16g but it was a direct bolt on for a 2g since it had the j-pipe and a braided oil line, so I cant use it. I figured I would sell it and one person told me it looked like a t-25, and my friend is utterly confused on why there is a small wheel that looks similar to a t-25 in a bigger housing. So someone help me out here, I dont know if I posted in the right section, so mods you can move this is you feel that is nessacery.

Thats what I was thinking. Show a comparison Pic compared to say a CD or something so we can see how big it is.

as stated above what turbo is this. i got it off ebay about a year ago and was told its an 18g. i didnt think anything of it but when i went to sell it i was told its a small 16g. now im confused so any help is greatly appreciated.

probably a 16G, the give away is the compressor wheel, the different height double fin pattern means it's a 16G, as for the size you would probably have to remove the compressor housing and measure the wheel. Here is a site with the wheel sizes turbo comparison . The only other turbo that shares that same compressor wheel is the Evo 3 16G but you can tell by the exhaust side and the flange that mounts to the exhaust manifold that it's not that. (the Evo 3 16G has a little more curvy flange as opposed to the square flange of the 16G.)
