Well that definitely doesn't look like a E316G's turbine housing. What are the numbers in the compressor housing between the 1 and 0? 49178-01 XX 0?

thats exactly my problem: there isnt any.
i've read 1470 is the e3 and 1520 is small but those two numbers are "erased". almost guaranteed, it was erased on purpose.

i also received a ported turbine housing. that one has the serial number 70 on it which i read indicated 7cm2 where as the one that is currently attached to the turbo is 60 which i believe indicates 6cm2. ill take a pic and repost it

Well, you might have to pull off the compressor housing and measure the inducer and exducer. Without any identification marks that is the only way to tell what turbo it is.

ultimately even if it is indeed a small 16g im happy because it has no shaft play seals are good etc and i paid 250

The s16g is a great turbo. But then again I'm biased (look at my sig). Definitely put the ported 7cm housing on it!!

The tdo5h indicates its not a 14b or t25!

no idea unfortunately, as i am broke and do not have any way to log it...i'd love to do a writeup on a comparison between the two turbo's i just dont have sufficient knowlege or materials/money to do such

I seem to barely be able to make out a 42. That would indicate a big 16G, though the compressor retention nut looks strange to me. I have never seen one like that on a Mitsu turbo, but I haven't looked at many 16Gs since about 2003.

i did notice that, but i wish i had a way to know for sure...i think to be honest i'd rather have a small 16g than a big for spooling purposes. unless of course its a true e316g which is what i had originally believed i was purchasing
