not true, if its done right and controlled right you will be doing much good as compared to stock. slower spool time does no mean slower car. because its a bigger turbo it does take longer to spool but also because its bigger, it takes less boost to push through the same amount of air that the 14b does. i dont know all the technical names or details so i wont try. if you get really excited, read this and you will know everything about turbos. very very very informative and very closely related to Eclipses, its arguable whether stealths/3000gt's are DSMs but this site is claiming they are. anyways, read up.
 
I have that turbo, It came on the JDM 7bolt. I'm probably going to be just trading it off. Anyone know all the specs of it?
 
Very interesting the compessor housing looks very simmilar to the 16g as well as the compressor wheel. But the exhaust housing looks smaller then a 14b. It couldnt be a 15g because hahn states the it is a t3 style flange. And he has his mounted to a 7cm or dsm style flange. :confused:

I would think the install would be the same as any of the other 16g series mitsu turbos. You need a j pipe to line up with the factory ic piping, water lines should line up since this turbo was already on the car & I think the oil lines that came with it will work as well. If not just get a oil feed line for a 16g series turbo (any dsm vendor). As far as to use it or not, I guess that all depends on what your hp goals are. It looks like this is a larger turbo then the t25, which is way to small. If your looking for almost as quick as factory spool and alot more mid to top end, save up and get the evo.
 
The TDO4HL are 13g's that come on the 1st gen auto. The motor probably came with390cc injectors as well.
 
The td04h was the 13g that came on the 1g autos. The td04hl seems to be a common turbo that comes on the imported 7 bolt engines. To this day, no one can give exact specs on it but it is different in some way than the 1g auto turbo. If not, it wouldn't have the L at the end.
 
What's a dual compressor wheel? Do you mean the fins are not all evenly spaced? If that's the case, then it's just a G-series turbo (16G, 18G, etc.). The B-series turbos (14B etc.) have evenly spaced compressor fins. Give us a pic to work with if you can.
 
dual compressor wheels means that when you look at the wheel...the fins look like they're grouped in 2's. instead of being all the same width apart, you have 2 closer together and then a larger space and then 2 closer together...all the way around.
 
Recently got a deal on a Garrett Turbo, however im not sure about the specs on the turbo as well as if it will work on my application.
Im running a Evo 4G63 Motor.
Other mods include Walbro 255 pump, Super AFC, AFPR, CAI, Starion FMIC, Chipped ECU

I'm sure you know this already but you will need a different exhaust manifold or an adaptor plate for that turbo, other than that i can't tell you. I don't know much about Garrett turbos. Good luck.
 
it looks like a full garrett/hybrid, centrifugal speed vertexor...........You could take my word for it or you can contact garrett with the serial number and see if they can help you. :D

if there is a diesel garage they can do some measurements for you, but i would just call someone who would know the serial number

get the turbine housing milled/decked(whatever term it is) so it's flat, do the same for the adapter, and do the same for the manifold.

I hope this isn't going on a DSM... :confused:

*edit* while not that hard to do if you have or have access to a welder and bender.. you'd still have to make a custom downpipe with a garrett 5 bolt flange and such..

But anyways.. I have a 97 tsi fwd i got at the auction with a locked up t25... and was looking to buy this and throw it on there.. Give it a bump in Hp yet no install kit.. But is the turbo a t25 or t28? Im selling the car on the lot so if this turbo is really bad let me know now ###..

I'm not sure what turbo that is, but i would definitely not put it on my car. thats just my opinion. i have heard some bad things about them.
