That is a trshed, tore up 16g. Dont buy it. The compressor ate something that wasnt supposed to be injested by an engine.

Look at the pic above and you will see the outside edge of the blade are deformed, bent, and all together just jagged. A good 16g looks like this. Scroll down and look at post #4.

Just hold out and you will find better. I sold a perfect, ported b16g a year ago with less than 5k miles for $250. With the evo3 and 50trim craze, Im sure you can find something nice for the same $ or less.

Just trying to be helpful and let you know about it so you can take care of that guy so it doesnt hurt you chances of selling that turbo =)

I'm sure you already took care of him but you might want to get him to remove that ad on the trader.

Also I'm not sure DSMTuners allows its users to have more then one account like that. Might want to ask them to close out any you dont use anymore if they are still active.


Also yeah that turbo in this tread, the Big 16G one, WOW thats trashed. Paypal is worthless too if a seller ships you something. The only way to be protected is to use a REAL credit card that allows charge backs from internet related crap. Most ATM/debit cards do not allow charge backs like credit cards so keep that in mind.

You can always find good 14bs or t28s for 100 or less, and those will get you by for a while until you are ready to get a bigger turbo.

People usually switch from t-25 to 14B because they can support more boost. Not as quick of a spool as t-25, but bigger turbos usually don't spool as quick

It depends on the scenario. I bought a rear strut brace off of ebay, when I got it it didn't even come CLOSE to fitting the car. So after talking to the seller, I filed a complaint with paypal. They found in my favor, and would refund my money as soon as I shipped the item to them. Unfortunately it was going to cost me more to ship the item then it did to buy it.

these last 2 are from my Turbo that was on there before,i have seen a T-25 a long time ago,and i don't remeber it looking like this.i might be wrong but is this a stock T-25???

stock t25 has a builtin 90* elbow that points the outlet towards the passenger side.

is that a t25? maybe, i dunno.

is it a stock 2g t25? no, it isn't.

Hi guys, noob here, I tried to search but every time I get 404ed,..anyway I bought the car from one owner, he said he put in slightly larger turbo in, the numbers on the turbo are 48178-520-0 9 990315107 TD0511. Also the silencer behind the maf, What does it look like? I think it was taken out but IDK, I can see right thru the honey comb, thats the only blockage what so ever. My car runs 14lbs,

92 talon fwd.

I can't help you with the silencer behind the honeycomb question for your MAF, but if your turbo serial was 49178-01520 (you're missing a number in there), it would be a small 16G which would indeed be slightly larger than your 14B. It's likely that you're also reading the housing number incorrectly, but TD05H can certainly look like TD0511 if it's dirty or worn on the casting. If you want, pull the intake off and take a look at the compressor wheel. If it has twin sided blades, it's a 16G variant.

ok, thanks, Umm a bigger turbo wouldn't do much without a differnt wastegate correct? Or does this bigger one just spool up faster? I was looking at the list of service records the guy had and one said Installed turbo customer provided, is WG unit of turbo? Thanks for the fast response.

actually a bigger turbo (turbine wheels anyways) will spool slower then a smaller turbo. if you think about it, it makes sense. smaller turbo (implying smaller wheels) would be able spin faster because they dont have as far to spin to make a full circle. do you get what i mean? and you dont necessarily have to have a different or bigger wastegate for a bigger turbo, within reason.

9 times out of 10 the wastegate for a 16G (any) is the same as a 14b.

If it is a small 16g, that is a very underrated turbo. If you have the right supporting mods, you should be running rather quick. Small 16g is definitely better then the stock 14b. And I wouldnt think a small 16g would spool all that much slower then a 14b.
