What Turbo is this? [Merged] Turbo ID Identification

Ok so i found what was listed as a 14b stock 1g turbo on craigslist for $40. I went and picked it up with minimal shaft play cause my t-25 was shot. I have never seen a 14b before so i took they guy's word that it was a 14b. I got it home and started looking at it and saw TD04 on the compressor housing. I started looking around online to find a pic of a 14b and apparently a TD04 compressor housing isn't even used on eclipses according vfaq. The exhaust housing inlet is so much smaller than my t25 housing and i am wondering if i even bought a 14b or some other turbo that is even smaller. I guy said it came off of the six bolt that i saw sitting in his garage. Any insight is appreciated. Sorry if i haven't searched this out and maybe is obvious but i don't have anyone in my area that knows about these cars.

Likely a 13g. It's used on the 1G auto. Flows slightly more than a T25 so I suppose you could call it an "upgrade." 14bs and 16g variants have TD05H on the comp covers.

It's a 13g and will fill like your t25 for the most part. I'd port the hot side and manifold to match that gasket size

Ok so in the one picture you can see that the exhaust inlet is kind of offset. Can i just port it out to fit my 2g manifold or should i just try to find another turbo? I am also installing my 3" dmic with this turbo. Will this turbo be able to run the cooler efficiently or will it cause lag? can I change like one of the housings to make it flow even more or is it not worth it?

I'd port it to match like I stated. You might seem an extra 100-200 rpm increase in spool which isn't very much on the streets and isn't worth worrying about it.

Haha idk about the baseball bat part and he lives like 1.5 hours from me so 40 bucks is 40 bucks but i think I'm just gonna port this one and get me car running again and save up for a 16g plus I'm this turbo should flow better than my stock one did. I am also installing a fmic and pretty much everything needed to run a 16g. I'm on a budget so ill just save up for a 16g. as long as this thing works ill just use it. the housing isn't cracked at all which is common in 14b turbos

Hey Jus and guys!!

I picked up this turbo advertised as a 60-1 but found out it wasn't. I take some measurements and on the compressor side the inducer measured 57mm and the exducer 70mm. The turbine wheel seems small the inducer measured 62mm and the exducer 46mm. Any info on what kind is?? I never seem to hear those kind of measurements from a garrett turbo.

70mm exducers are found in the T04B-series. Looks like a T04B H-trim compressor wheel, which would be 58mm x 70mm.

Bad news is it's mated to a Stage 1 turbine in a .48 a/r turbine housing....basically a surge-monster if used at enough boost to make the compressor worth having.

My buddy has this turbo and it says turbocharger then under that it says Dsm/evo then serial number - tb009101258 is that a knock off eBay junk ??

Um, that thing doesn't even have the correct compressor cover on it as noted by the 1/4" gap between the wheel and cover on all sides.

100% unusable garbage....if you want an eBay T04E, they're $130 shipped brand new. This seller is obviously awaiting a sucker.

5 miles or 5 minutes, whatever comes first.

There are no guarantees when it comes to knockoff turbos. Some guys install them and have good luck, some go through them like toilet paper. It's the gamble you take when buying a $180 part versus the same thing for $900 from Mitsubishi.

Being the guy that is shocked when their eBay turbo fails is like being the guy who eats a Big Mac every day for lunch and dinner then is shocked when they have a heart attack. You do it to yourself.


By the way, the turbo in your photo doesn't look "new" to me at all...not with all that rust on the turbine shaft and compressor locknut.
