Many Thanks. In your opinion with 500-550awhp goal in mind would you go with an 8 blade HX40 in a .55 BEP or with something like this 35r? The adapter plate thing scares me but from what I can find people had good luck with the kit a long time ago.

No idea on the o2 housing. I'll put that out there first.
Turbo is a hybrid between a TD05H Mitsu and a TB0348 Garrett from a Buick Grand National. Compressor specs would confirm this, but it's definitely a Mitsu center housing with a 20* clip on a TD05H turbine, set into a Garrett TB0348 cover using an adapter plate.
Turbo needs rebuilt- I can see a little oil residue on the bottom of the v-band flange where the center housing connects to the turbine housing, likely coming from behind the heat shield. There is also evidence that the backside of the compressor wheel has rubbed the heat shield, indicating thrust play which should be addressed before the turbo turns itself into a pile of scrap.

By hand the turbo has zero shaft play in any direction. I'll try and get measurements tonight.

That's interesting...perhaps the turbo had massive in/out play at one time and was rebuilt using the same heat shield and turbine?
This pic clearly shows a visible scuff mark on the heat shield behind the turbine at about the 7-o'clock position which seems fairly fresh as it's not buried under layers of carbon. I'm also seeing some cracks in the webbing between the turbine blades which would also be a result of friction caused by the turbine contacting the heat shield.

Trust me, you can't mark the heat shield that badly from the wheel touching it while it's loose. The wheel has definitely made contact with the heat shield at some point during it's lifespan. If there's no in/out play present right now, someone apparently did a low-budget rebuild.The mark you see @ 7 o'clock is from me turning the wheel while the housing was off.

The 78-11020 on the exhaust housing is telling me its a factory 6cm 14b turbo.
