I’ve been stalking Facebook marketplace for abt 2 years now and have had some marginal luck finding the first and second gen DSM’s in my price range, a lot of listings are out of my price range but I’m a broke 18 yr old so I’ll take what I can get. I was curious if anyone else is using a different website because I’ve scoured the internet multiple times and only gotten dealership advertisement does anyone have any other places I should look? I feel like junkyard hopping would be a lost cause.

There aren't going to be any dedicated websites for DSMs for sale - you can check our Classifieds here:

Put up a WTB ad in that section.

Only other options these days are FB marketplace, Craigslist would be worth scouring, maybe eBay and auto sales sites like Cars.com or Autotrader. I'd be looking through Craigslist daily in all regions.

facebook groups are your best bet. try the FB page dsm classifieds
FB classifieds groups will definitely have some available, but you might stumble across some deals on Craigslist where the owner isn't necessarily an enthusiast. You never know.

yeah, craigslist is still around but since new ads cost money its basically like news papers use to have cars for sale. typically only vaguely computer literate people use it anymore. 😅

That is where I found all of mine, but I don't have FB. These cars have stopped popping up in the last couple of years but I still look.

Hence the deals. Last time I used it I didn't have to pay for a FS listing for a vehicle. I know it's different in different regions, but some regions might still be free to post outside of the jobs sections.

Are you sure you can financially support a dsm? It can be worse than a child and it includes all the same stress and petulant behavior.

That being said, I'm glad a 18 year old is looking for one of these and not a FRS.

I don't have FB but a friend points out ads on there to me every now and then. Far more there than Kijiji, which is free and owned by eBay, and is basically canada's Craigslist.

Broke and 18! DSM is certainly not your chassis if you cannot afford an OK one at least, you will spend a tonne getting it right vs something thats decent for half as much as fixing it up. A good one would be about 8-9k, you may get lucky wnd find one for about 5k but most know these have risen in price alot recently and keep rising.

Parts can be cheap bit cheap does not always mean fixed! It can mean headaches and issues and you blaming DSM's as being unreliable but they truely are NOT that!! They are as reliable and as good as the owner puts in.

Certainly check fb for ad's and also check here or see if a local yard has one thats workable

This is not a good car for an 18 year old. They need TLC even more now because of age, abuse and the general lack of parts is beginning to become an issue. You are definitely not finding any DSMs at a junkyard unless they were mangled or burnt to a crisp. There are people in this community who have picked them clean for the past 25 years. You are more likely to find treasure in the middle of the Pacific ocean than finding a DSM in a junkyard with valuable parts. :D

As others have stated broke and 18 is probably not the place in your life to get a DSM. The only DSM you can afford to buy is going to cost you a bunch of money to keep running and most the cheaper cars have been BADLY abused. It's great to see younger people like these cars but I would wait until you are in a better place financially and buy a better one to start with. Just my .02
