Im new here to the forum and I have owned a 2g before but only as a daily driver I love dsm's and right now I drive a 3g with a 6g72 engine. But now im looking to buy a 2g for the purpose of tuning moding and making myself something to love. I want a 4g63. I am not sure where to look and what a good price on a gst or gsx is. I was extreamly close to buying one someone had started and needed to be finished but when I ask him is I could start it to make sure it will start he tells me that he took out a banjo bolt from the oil line and the oil filter housing thing so I got out of there quick. so I guess what im asking is what should I be looking for, where should I look for it, and how much is a fair price.

Depends how much you could spend how many mods it has I wouldn't buy someone else's project that you can't start just try to buy a clean 2 g with no major rust

That dosent really help me. I know clean no rust is good.
that's just not an option im Gunna get to come across to buy around here. Every 4g63 I have come a crossed in months has had something done to it

I would hold off on getting one if I were in your shoes. You will find a nice one just keep an eye open you may have to look a few hours away. I'm not sure if it's just me but I get a feeling that 'i want to build THIS spacific car' if I don't get that feeling I stay away because you never will get that feeling with it and it will end up being a half finished project. Just my .02. I would wait for a close to stock car comes around

It's going to be tough finding anything bone stock. A good clean RUNNING (meaning needs nothing to move under its own power) 2g AWD 5speed, depending on mods, can go from 4k-6k. A FWD one from 3k-5k. Stay away from autotragics unless it is a built one or you plan on building one.

Set a realistic goal for what you want power wise and drivability and go from there. If you consider yourself a nooby i would stay away from anything heavily modded or huge project cars. Find something with simple mods maybe an exhaust, intake, and BOV. Stock turbo or small upgraded turbo, stock fuel system, stock tune. This is a path you can take to gradually learn the DSM platform.

-Look out for rust underneath the side skirts, rear wheel wells, and strut towers.
-Take a compression tester with you and do one on the spot. (Requires a spark plug key and a 10mm)
-Take the timing cover off and inspect timing belt.

thank you guys for the response that helps alot. hopefully they next time i post its showing the start of my dsm. looking forward to talking to you guys again soon

i will defiantly use that website thank you :). sadly around here most of the eclipses have been destroyed and treated wrong and are just broke. and people around here want 8-14 thousand for a gsx thats not in perfect condition and 6 thousand for a gst not in perfect condition so im going to haft to travel to find a good buy. i dont want any of the trash and broken dreams around here. and a 420a cost 4 thousand in good condition.
