The 4G63 NT Engine, and How to make a turbo kit for it!

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

That "K" engine is only for the 4G63 engine. They never made a special edition 420A engine (besides tranny and timing in different places with the same horse power such as a neon R/T). The situation with you brother probly had to do with different gearing, rather than HP and weight vs. HP and weight.

that is harder than it sounds. I've had a bunch of spare parts to sell for a while. There's not much demand for non-turbo 7 bolt engine parts.
This is a 6 bolt, but ya it is hard to find buyers. I found selling stuff that is on all DSMs spoilers, fenders, ECU, A/C sell easily, but engien componets. I found a buyer for a few small things in the engine, but i want to get rid of some of the bigger stuff. If anyone knows people who need parts, I have a whole car waiting to be tourn apart.

i have a new style apexi s-afc for sale right now if any of you NT guys wanting to do this turbo conversion want it. its got all manuals and box included. its in good shape except for one scratch across the face.

im working on doing this to my 91 talon n/t . i need the motor mount above the drivers side tire and the one in the front under the header if anybody has good ones to get rid of let me know. i also need a 1g turbo MAF and an ECU that will work for this and wirng harness or some type of diagram that i could wire my own up with. i have most of the other big parts, except for intercooler and piping, hoses, BOV,etc

so youre saying that the stock cast pistons and connecting rods can handle up to 8 psi safely with a new head gasket? and thats it??? it sounds too good to be true. i have already purchased almost all the parts needed for turbo installation:

14b turbo with O2 sensor housing
exhaust manifold
intercooler, piping
BOV
downpipe
intake turbo MAS
all gaskets needed

the only thing i really need now is a rising rate fuel pressure regulator right?? i mean it makes logical sense. or will a normal aftermarket one do the job too? id rather spend the extra money and get it right you know?? what else do you recommend i do to the engine that will help with the fuel/air ratio problem. i really dont want to switch out my ECU, so there has to be another solution. SFAC? i just dont want to run into any huge roadblocks while im doing this. or even worse have it all go in, then have it all break while im driving or showing all my friendsOMG
so id appreciate any feedback on this subject...thanks

matt

MY ENGIEN REBUILD IS DONE. plus new clutch assembly including a 8.5 pund flywheel. 8.5 compresson pistons so i better get a turbo to make up for the lost horse power. Im waiting to see how everyone does it so i can buy the stuff and do the installation in one swift stroke rather than find out i have to buy more.

Not me but on such other message boards relating to DSMs, the conversion has been done using small turbochargers on stock n/t internals at about 7psi. www.dsmtalk.com for more in depth look at who has done the conversion.

Nobody ever posts anymore. Anyways i have a few things ready. A stock turbo. turbo cams and an exhaust manifold are lined up. I dont want to spend the money for a SAFC but alturnatives for that are hard to come by. Howbout everybody else. Who has stuff for sale? How far is everyone else?

I've got most of the stuff that I wanted new ordered. Big 16g turbo, greddy fm intercooler, greddy piping, greddy BOV, act 2100. :D I still need to make a trip to the junkyard to get everything else. I plan on doing the swap in 1 weekend. Im gonna take out the motor and leave it on the cherry picker to do everything, seems like it'll be easier. Hopefully it goes smoothly, but Im sure I'll run into my own little list of problems.

Let me know how that goes. Keep track of how many hours you put into this thing.

Mavisky, would you be willing to sell those parts? and if so how much? How did your swap go? Did you turbo the original engine or just drop a stock tsi engine in?

yea i'll sell them send me a pm with what parts you're looking for and i'll see what i have.

the swap went pretty good for me, i dropped in a stock tsi engine.

no i plopped a 2.0 tsi engine into my 2.0 nt chassis. all the moounts are the same.

thats strange...i was told that the mounts were different. I heard it was something about the tranny placement.....so just to get this staight you can put a stock 4G63 turbo engine in a car that has the stock 4G63 non-turbo engine?
:dsm:

yea mount wise it bolts right in. now if you use the turbo engine with the turbo transmission there may be some sort of rubbing near the rear of transmission by the differential. although i've never measured the nt/turbo mounts, the engine i have in my car right now uses all the nt mounts on the chassis, but the mounts on the engine are from a turbo car and all bolt up alright.
