Hey guys LOL, as the title states I’m curious if I should continue to run my $h!t 68% pump ethanol or run the high dollar race ethanol. My setup is a built piston/rod 6 bolt with a gen 2 6266, currently at 34ish psi, timing up top is only 15 degrees, no issues so far, but the nectar of the GODS is just an hour south in Windsor Colorado, and I guess I’m wondering what you guys would do?

I assume your concern with knock. My opinion is you're almost at the most knock prevention with ethanol enriched gasoline at 50%. Anything above E50 will not really provide much more knock prevention. Here's a study on ethanol blends & gasoline. This may be of some help with what you decide.

That paper is pretty interesting. I guess it wasn't their purpose, but I wish they had added 2 more categories of blend. They could have tried E50 and E85 blended from HO + E100 instead of RG + E100. That might have given them an R+M/2 of about 101? I don't know, I wish they would have tested it. Their E50 and E85 were both only around 96 R+M/2.
The point of this for us is, if we buy our gasoline and our Ethanol separately, we can have our own HO + ethanol.
It seems to me this would help. I mean racers run 110 octane or higher if their class will allow it.

The tests in the study were all run at stoich, and of course it was all naturally aspirated.

Their E50 and E85 coming out to almost exactly the same octane kind of fits with what English Racing told me when they were tuning my car. They said they often find that they can run the final "all-in" tuning run on only about E60. But the way they normally get E60 in a street car is with 92 octane pump gas + E98. In other words, HO + ethanol. When you buy E85 at the pump, you are buying RG + ethanol.

Dude, you're already over 600 if you're at 34psi and 15* on a 6266.

As for the ethanol, my motto is if it's going to make you drive your car less than don't do it. It sounds like a pain to go an hour to get fuel and store it, worry about running out etc etc.

I have personally made 1000whp on pump e85 with a 4g63. And I live in Denver. Unless you need the peace of mind, save your money. And for what it is worth, I have never tested a single drop of e85 and I have been running it since 2003.

Thank you guys, those are pretty much the responses I hoped to hear LOL, just started to get the itch for the fancy corn now that I’m turning the car up.
Unfortunately at our altitude in Colorado I'm willing to bet he's atleast a little short. I took my car out in August and the d.a. was 7900ft.
Your probably right about that, I have no doubt the car is at least 500whp and a total blast to drive, hopefully I’ll get her to Bandimere next season:thumb:

Right on. I'm hoping to get mine there in the spring too. No disrespect meant at all I just know how hard it is to make power up here.
