It's not so much the dipstick right now since we upgraded to the 10an catch can, but the coolant. But I did make a spring mount on my dipstick just in case since the stick fits so loosly

Well, scorched headgasket, time to upgrade. im just going to go as strong as I can because it's such a pain. Ordered the boostin performance 1/2" studs with head inserts and am also going to have the head/block o-ringed to have that extra combustion pressure barrier.

Good news is the head and Pistons aren't damaged!

Before you get too crazy...

1. You probably going to need to re hone this thing after installing the 1/2" studs as its going to move the block around a lot more.
2. You really think they are needed? Remember the crank is held in by 10mm studs, and it holds just as much force as the head bolts do. The head gasket can tolerate more movement than the main caps...
3. That thing looks like it has an oil control issue. On E85 and the ammount of run time, it should have no carbon at all.

Did you re-torque the studs after a couple heat cycles before putting big boost to it? I always find that they move around a lil and always need to be re-torqued . Also what do you have them torqued to? Because You blew the hell out of that gasket.

I followed MAPs torque sequence for the studs. You end up with a final torque of 105 lb/ft.

Do I think it's necessary?
Well this used to be one of the best combos, h11/ l19 studs with a cometic hg back in the day. But now that we are running much higher compression than back then, and much more boost, cyl pressure is much much higher. I really didn't think it would have any issues but it did so why not overbuild it? I definitely don't want to do this again. As far as re honing, it's going to be completely redone. I am sending the "old" jam engine with 20 minutes of run time to my local place to get totally rebuilt . That's the engine I am having o ringed and restuded. It has to be gone through anyways so might as well do it to the jam block since this shortblock is still perfect .
I know there are a lot of people that are running big power without doing all of this, but I would much rather just do it as strong as possible now . Especially after the fiasco with the jam engine, now this bad headgasket.

As far as the carbon, there really isn't much at all, some in the pics is oil from taking the head off that I just didn't clean up. But it does have some hard time. It has a full dyno session, some street time, and a few full track passes.
