) but that was on 12psi.. I started messing around even more and ended up with them at about 7 psi before they hooked up nicely. NOw i thought they were gonna peel off the rims at those pressures but they held
And all my launches were between 4200 and 5250 RPM using the 2-step to adjust where i was launching.... I found that preloading my clutch/driveline was only abusing the disk getting it so hot that sometimes it wouldn't hold in third gear with an ACT 2600 (after preloading and riding out the launch)
even on street tires if i launch below 4200-4500 RPM i'm bogging hard..mo0st time i have to really ride it a little on street tires starting at 5000RPM on the 2-step.. A while back i got to try a buddies 24" slicks (which are a lot nicer on the gap between 2nd and 3rd gears) and although i was only playing in an old industrial area the launched i could pull were unbelievable.. I literally had to launch at 6500 RPM with very few slips of the tires of the line (which you ultimately want anyway) i guess my only real point is quaife + slicks = major fun and low ET's
)
)
changing lanes under power with an LSD like the quafe is something that takes practice, the first few times scared me pretty good..no way to describe it but with a term i often use "point and click"i don't want to start a pisssin match but inserts will eventually = death to transmission if you're making over 350hp...

I don't have any personal experience with wavetrac,but i can tell you i've put the quaife through hell many times a day at some points and she never flinches. I sheared an axle the other day on the 2-3 shift (not being hard on it really either moderate psi and agranny shifting) but the LSD has held through all i've ever put it through and after driving on it and having driven many clutch syle LSD's i don't know that i'll ever want anything other than the helical style that i'm runnign now.. for the street they absolutely rock, no adjustments needed ever, no noisy engagement and such in slow maneuvering.. I just have nothing bad to say about it other than i wish it was a few hundred cheaper, but it was worth every penny i shelled out and i'd do it agian if i had to
, but i can also get one for under $700 and local and they come with a lifetime warrenty too.My rip grip insert in my tre2.5 has never seen less than 449whp and I havnt had any problem that I know of yet. I couldnt find any lagit claims against them when I decided to try it out.
Im guessing John at TRE did the insert when you had the trans built? When he puts them togeather they tend to hold up alot better, and he has his own shim specs when building. Honestly I got my quaife used and the build date on the diff says 2005 and I know that im the 3rd owner.... Alex had it for 3 years in his 16g drag car that ran 11.1 and he always just dumped the clutch, Ive had it a year myself. And I plan to put it in my auto next year.
Save the money and buy slicks...then you'll be hoping for an 11 second pass soon.

?Well got my best so far of 13.6@107. Went to go for next run lined up against my buddies sti, I tried to launch alittle harder and snapped the passenger side axle. Got up at 6 am today and started taking my spare axles out of my parts car then heading back down to track to try again. I think with alittle more practice on the slicks I will see some lower et.

This may have changed. I had a trail of tranny fluid follow me me home from the track Friday night. I was hopeing it was oil but it smelt to bad on the ride home. I confirmed it wasnt oil this morning but didnt have time to see where the damage was...this cars been nothing but a pain since the rebuild so this was probably the last straw.
sucks to hear for sure. If you decide to part out, pm me about the intake manifold. Im in Frisco for work and can pick it up.
Man you have a lot left in that car too with those 60fts. Nice times regardless though. Im assuming your profile isn't up to date? Whats your mods list these days? Also, do you still have that park bench on the back of your car?
Yes I was an extreme ricer back in the day ( maybe some still consider me as one) .
I posted pictures of my set up a few pages back.
but its a 2.3, small gt42, DPR cylinder head, crower cams, 1200cc, Twin A1000s, stock ecu with TMO chip and an afc for tuning, home made tranny, hughes converter.
