Where are the FWDs at????

Thanks for all the replies; Slicks it is. So far I've found:
24.5 x 8 x 15 Micky Thompson ET Drag Slicks for $195
24.5 x 8.5 x 15 M&H Racemaster Drag Slicks for $170

Leaning towards the cheaper one obviously.

I'm having trouble finding 15x8 rims though. Everything I'm finding in our bolt pattern (114.3 or 4.5) that are affordable are for Jeeps. Any links to cheap 15x8s that will work for our cars? I'm thinking a 40mm offset would work.

I've only heard good things about M&H slicks. A good friend of mine bought 4 for his GSX and said customer service was excellent. Another good friend bought 2 for his GST and said the same. The set of 2 are now in my possession, waiting to be put on this year :thumb:

Rota Slipstreams come in a 15x8 5x114.3 +40 size. The key will be finding a set. I'd call Mach III and JayDM and see if they have them or can get them. I was recommended the 2nd place by the guy who bought the set of 4 slicks. He said the prices for Rota wheels were really good compared to other places.

5x4.5 bolt pattern. Ive got weld 15x10s with 4.5 backspacing. If you want dirt cheap wheels just buy the summit or jeggs brand of welds look-a-likes they run about $100 a wheel. You want about a 0 offset. The welds weight about 14lbs and the summits weight 17lbs for the 15x10. I deal with alot of hondas here and those 24.5x8.5 only last about 20 passes with anything over 550whp, the sidewalls stress too much and just give out. Get the 26'' tall tires trust me you will have longer life and better 60's and you wont spin the crap out of them. Spinning your tires at 70+mph might sound cool but its not.

I really don't think I'm making even close to that. I'm still on the 14b so I figure I'm making around 300 hp or so.

What about these: 15x8, 0 offset, 4.5" backspacing? $114 a rim.

Good to hear Brian! I just checked out those sites, I didn't realize those wheels where so affordable or so light. According to the JayDM site the 15" slipstreams are only 12 lbs. Is that right?

I'm running that size slipstreams in my car in a 2g I had to use a small spacer about 5mm I believe or they would rub. This was on 26x9.5x15 tire. I got the rotas at about 100 bucks brand new locally.

Buy M/T they have a softer sidewall. will help tons in FWD . trust me i have gone from toyo tires full slicks to Good Year slicks. when they used to make them in 26" size.

M/H have a stiffer sidewall and a hard compound which are a no no in what you are trying to accomplish..

hope it helps.

Hmm, good to know. Thanks!

How are you guys with slicks getting to the track? Are you towing your car or having someone else bring them to the track for you? I have seen maybe one or two pictures of DSMs towing little trailers with their tires on them. The closest track is like an hour and a half away from me.

My track is only about 15-20 minutes away so I just plan on driving the DSM with street tires while my wife follows me in the truck with the slicks and a jack.

I take mine in the trunk, they fit without putting the seat forward. And my tools and a jack in the backseat. Then leave my street tires in the pits and hope I don't get jacked. Lol.

Haha ya that was my concern with leaving my street tires in the pits, especially when I finally buy a nice set. Maybe I can chain them to a fence or something so people don't walk away with them LOL.

I throw them in the back of the car, drive an hour and a half to the track, switch them out and run it. Then switch them back and drive home;) It's a pain in the a*s but it's the only choice I have most of the time.

Exactly. Drive up on street tires, use a longer bike chain or regular chain and chain them to the fence or stands. Shouldn't have any issues...other than your jack getting jacked! :D LOL

Shortydp..... you wasnt there with your outlaw. Post ups some pics of how its comming along

Anyone going to Bradenton Thursday? A Few of my buddies and I are going down for the $10 test and tune...
