Where are the FWDs at????

Here's a little mod I did to my FWD Laser. I put together a lightweight aluminum panhard bar, aka lateral rod for the rear suspension. It's not a big deal, it only saves 2 1/4 pounds.

Part numbers from SpeedwayMotors.com
910-355-39 39" panhard bar 1-1/8" diameter with 5/8" threads
117-0810 5/8" RH-1/2 aluminum X-series Heim
117-0810L 5/8"LH-1/2 aluminum X-series Heim
315-604 LH aluminum jam nut
315-9663 RH aluminum jam nut
There's extra space between the Heim's and the mounts on the body. I just added a stack of 12mm/ 1/2" washers to take up the space. If you want to get fancy they make 'cone spacers' to fill the gap.

Omg I want this! Can I buy it from u? Or can u make another one and I'll just paypal you the money I have a 90 gst I wanna do this to. Pm me man

Just go to speedwaymotors.com and punch in the part numbers, it's only $51.

This!

My car is still spining on slicks in second gear im hoping it will hook on the track!

:sosad:......

Not at Orlando SpinWorld....

Went to the track on friday night and again more kinks to work out. I went 11.8@124, 1.7 60foot and .117 rt. The alt. belt came off at the 330ft and by the 1/8th my coolant shot over 220. blew the lower hose and threw coolant on the track from the 1000ft to 1/4. Packed her up and said the hell with it. That was on 33psi and 16* of timming and my afrs where avg 10.9 on sunoco 110. Car isnt tuned for just motor on 110 its tuned for c116, so with the lower fuel it richend up on me and my Nos decided to keep poping fuses, ended up being hell on me again. Untill next time..............:banghead:

COME ON GUYS STEP IT UP THIS SEASON ! FWD POWER YEAH................................

(low 1.7 60 ft combo with the potential for 1.6's)

15" wheels
M&H 8.5x8.5/15 slicks 8-10psi
car weight 2500-2700
leave with 5-7psi of boost on the 2step
rpm depends on size of turbo 4500-6500 rpms

This combo is from my experience in my last 2g. The car weighed 2590 without me and was full interior minus rear seat delete.

Man 8.5''s...... I dont know about that. I have a 62mm turbo and 26x10x15s, 9psi in driveside and 7psi on the passenger side. Leaving the line at 16psi @ 6k and cut a 1.58 car weight around 2600 with me in it......... Better step it up son:hellyeah:

I would think those traps should be easily reached at full weight. Depending on fuel, suspension, tires and driver, possibly even 107-108 traps or better.

Shortydtp - should have went with a bigger turbo. That might not be big enough! What turbo is it?

I would guess at least 42r sized...maybe even a little bigger.

To be honest I think you're going to have a tough time breaking the 100mph mark.

:dsm:

I was wondering what you guys think is the best street tire for fwd. I'm looking for something that will be good on the 1/4 also. I'm moving up to a 225 from 215 n I'm currently running bfg kdw and they are good but I know there is better. I know I need a soft sidewall but I dont see where to read on a tire if it's soft or hard!

what size wheel? i was running a 245/40/17 sumitomo htrz3 with like 15psi in them and still no traction even in 3rd (stock diff) so i threw a cheap lsd insert in and next time i shattered the front diff. i hit 2nd gear and wheel hopped, lifted and got back on it but it was too late

so no more street tires @ the track for me

Our old '90 GST ran 13.1 @ 113 with a similar setup at 19psi. We had the following:

stock engine
Big 16g
old Buschur street FMIC
HKS 264s
AFC
550s
full 3"
ACT 2600
Green dot retreads

I'm running a 17x7 rim with an e316g and my driving must suck cause I ran 13.333 last year on deflated bfg kdw. I'm reading that the kumho mc are the best street tires for drag. Anyone try the bfg dr in 225-45-17? I honestly can't put 16s cause my brakes are too big (12.5 inch) and I don't have the means of transporting an extra set of tires cause my car is not a trailer queen. If it was it probably wouldn't be fwd LOL. I put down 301hp last time I was at the dyno and I'm pretty sure I'm set up for 12s. I dont get out to the track much so I'm still a little nervous of the line so I don't slip the clutch like I should be.
Here's a short list of specs and mods.
301hp, quaife, 680s, dsmlink, e316g, greddy fmic and so on. I'm getting a set of coilovers this year, what do you guys think of the Megan racing ones? Is it too stiff? My brother has those on his 240 and they are pretty stiff at it's hardest setting. I'm running the turbo at 23psi but I also have a profec b so I was setting the low setting at 15 to get off the line and it was working pretty good for me last year

You could always get a set of the Hoosiers that were made for the Evo rims and put on the fronts! Those things are really soft and are a "DOT street slick" although not really recommended for street use. All you need to do is pull your spare and put both tires in the back to carry your tires to the track. A jack and a tire lug tool will fit no problem as well!

Fkn sound system! Lol. So no ideas for street tires? I always told myself that I wanted to roll off the street n right on to the track n put down great times without having to change tires :(

Alot of the honduh guys round here use winters and let me tell you it's a bi*** when I put this much money into the car and some 16 yr old punk with civic gets a better launch :(. But apples n oranges can't really compare a 300hp car with no traction to a 200hp car! I'm in a big dilemma I love cornering but I like going to the track from time to time. I think I might stick with a mid-range tire like the bfg kdw I have now. It's hard to beat the price tag and if I deflate them a bit they do fairly well! I was looking at the star specs and those would definetly suit my everyday driving the best!

i hate when people come in and comment about how they hate fwd and went fwd. who cares? if you can't put in some valuable information, then don't post.

as for the tires and sound system, that does suck. and you're probably a little heavier than factory due to the additional wiring, speakers, sub box, amps, etc. so that might drop what most would expect you to run in stock form down a couple tenths or so.

I have owned a ton of AWD and FWD DSM's and i went to a fwd this go around because i didn't want to worry about all the extra drive train parts to break t case, drive shaft, rear end, axles. etc.. plus the extra cost for a twin disc and 4 slicks instead of 2 yadda yada. LOL

I did one thing right! I put a tiny 10 inch sub the Rockford p3 but the one that's like half sized LOL
