Looks like i wont be going back to the track until i switch setups....

So far im going with HTA68/1000cc's/Punishment 02/3inch dp/etc. hoping to be deep into the 12's with slicks......

We can get you into the 11s with those mods. Ive seen some logs where that 68hta hit almost 56lbs/min. The slicks and diff will make all the diffrence. Alex ran 11.1 on 8'' mickeys and quafie diff all on a 16g! What you really have to work on is weight transfer, make that rearend as stiff as you can.

I wanted to do the quafie lsd insert but i heard some bad things about them from a couple of friends so i might just stay with a open diff.......

As far as suspension goes i doubt ill get to crazy im about to start building my camaro back up and the DSM will become a quik little daily so im trying not to get to serious!

The quafie is not an insert its a helical diff and wont break ever and if it does it will be replaced at no charge from quafie. Now an lsd insert will break and rip you trans to shreds anything north of 350whp

I'm building mine right now to run on the 14b. My goal is to have the 14b world record next year. This year I'll be on the stock motor and doubt I will get it done until I go higher compression. I'm hoping mine will be running in the next month or two. Got a few more parts to order, strip some more weight and get the engine, fmic, etc all back together.

Hi
first time owner of my 99eclipsegs n/t my dad past it down to me boght it when it first came out and i have it now yeah ok well i took it to the tracks just to see how it would do at the time it was completely stock i ran a 16.2 i think thats pertty good

Took my gst to the local 1/8th of a mile track. It was my first time ever to the track so I don't think I did that bad. I went on regular street tires. Couldn't grip for the life of me. I was on e-85 on about 24 pounds of boost
60ft-2.403

My best mph was 91 for the night. Ima be buying some drag radials and installing my poly mounts. See how ill do. My goal for the car is mid to low 12's.let me know if ill have a chance to hit my goal. Lol.

The average car picks up 25-30 mph on the 2nd 1/8th mile. That said, if you picked up 30mph, you would be trapping around 115mph in the 1/4. With those 60' times, you would probably be really high 12s or low 13s. With drag radials and 60' times in the low 2s or high 1s, you should be mid to low 12s all day.

Well i would like to add to this thread :) I will start off with saying i absolutly LOVE gsx (awd) i owned a 99gsx before my current 99gst. I have another buddy of mine who has four 2gbs that have all been in the 12sec. scene around here, his latest one breaking 11s, and were working on an evo now, Ive been working the dsm life for quite awhile now, I'm taking the fwd to prove you dont need awd but what you need is a great driver and a even better handling car, i've already dropped a few grand into coil's springs, dampers, solid front and back mounts, etc im still in the beginning stages as far as handling, i WILL be sticking with the 2.0 and tuning it my self with my buddy. When it is complete il post the build from start to finish, trust me guys fwd hasn't died we just dont post all of our times because more the half of us are not proud of it! i ran 13.8 at 122 with stock ecu 16g tastfully modded; I'll be using a bw series borg with this new application. For the non- beleivers fwd cars pull quite a bit harder than awd, ive scared coutless amounts of people, on stock tunes!!!

So are we building these fwd cars and actually compete with against the hondas in : sfwd, outlaw , true street fwd classes?

Mine is built for sfwd, too bad im using a 62mm turbo with some happy sauce. Kiggly is built for outlaw (thats why he runs 8.2s with a bw374). Im going auto, im ditching the awd-to-fwd trans.

Im in the works of building a turbo with EverGreen (should be 72mm comp wheel and 88-94 turbine wheel in a 42r tial housing), and im slowly fabing up a manifold. I cant decide where I want it and if im going to run a water2air intercooler.

If I weren't going to be driving my car to meets and maybe even to work every once and again, I would go air to water hands down. Less pressure drop, shorter piping, and probably not much weight difference between the two setups even with the ice water in the tank. Only downside is you have an extra pump that can go out and water lines that could possibly leak or burst. But the chance of having the water lines have problems is very slim...and most of the pumps have a run life that's plenty long enough to last for a few years.

Driving on the street is an argument FOR running W/A. No big FMIC to block your radiator. We ran a W/A setup on my friend's car that he semi-daily drove, and even with just ambient water in the tank, his charge temps never got higher than they did on his previous FMIC setup. The key is properly sizing the tank, pump, and heat exchanger.

I've been told otherwise. However, if I did a water to air setup, I would NOT run a heat exchanger. The extra lines, water and parts just add a ton of weight that I don't want or need. At the track, it wouldn't be a problem without a heat exchanger because you can just add a little more ice and/or drain when needed.

i give props to all you fwd guys . im currently putting in my 2.3 stroker hoping for some good times and big hp . im tuning everything with an aem ems. if i can get my setup to hook up i would like to get into the 10s. if not time for some more mods 10s or bust

Well my FP HTA68 is on along with the injectors/fmic all i can say is wow @ 65mph in third once it spools (23lbs) it spins on street tires......:sneaky:

April 3rd is the next funday sunday so im going to fix some minor issues throw the slicks on and see what i can do!

Interested to see how you do Slow91! I am contemplating running that turbo once I'm done with the 14b!

RichardB - if that isn't enough power to get you deep into the 9s on some good slicks, I'd get a driver mod next! ;)

Here's a little mod I did to my FWD Laser. I put together a lightweight aluminum panhard bar, aka lateral rod for the rear suspension. It's not a big deal, it only saves 2 1/4 pounds, but it's cheap and easy. I wouldn't have done it except I had a low speed spinout a few weeks ago and bent the stock panhard bar, so I had to fix it somehow. This was an easy way to get my car back on the road and it adds adjustability so I can dial in the alignment again. If anyone needs to save a little weight for a little money, here it is.

Part numbers from SpeedwayMotors.com
910-355-39 39" panhard bar 1-1/8" diameter with 5/8" threads
117-0810 5/8" RH-1/2 aluminum X-series Heim
117-0810L 5/8"LH-1/2 aluminum X-series Heim
315-604 LH aluminum jam nut
315-9663 RH aluminum jam nut
There's extra space between the Heim's and the mounts on the body. I just added a stack of 12mm/ 1/2" washers to take up the space. If you want to get fancy they make 'cone spacers' to fill the gap.

Very nice Dave! That looks so awesome...I might do that for the adjustability as well...and 2lb is 2lb, regardless where it comes from! Thanks for the write-up and the part numbers!

If your running a 68HTA in a FWD it helps to find a way to control power delivery in first gear on slicks.

This!

My car is still spining on slicks in second gear im hoping it will hook on the track!

:sosad:......

COME ON GUYS STEP IT UP THIS SEASON ! FWD POWER YEAH................................

(low 1.7 60 ft combo with the potential for 1.6's)
