What do you guys think? I have head studs 264 hks cams titanium springs and retainers and a metal HG cometic. Think my setup could handle a 50 trim sized turbo and hopefully get 450whp in pump and not blow my engine?


I'm sure your engine could handle, I currently run a 50 trim on 29 pounds of boost. Only I'm on e-85, on a stock 7 bolt. On pump gas you won't be able to run as much boost, I was only able to get around 23 before it started knocking. It'll be hard to get to 450 on pump gas but this turbo pulls hard over 20 lbs. And at that level your gonna want to start worrying about traction.

Just make sure you have a good tune if you want the motor to last. That's the key, the tune.

Traction problems arrived years ago !
I keep hearing that more lag=more traction! An I wrong?

Not neccesarly. My car spun through most of the 1/8th of a mile so even with more lag they'll still break traction. As soon as the boost hit it'll break traction.

I ended up buying some hoosier QTP's to help me out with traction haven't got them on yet but I'm taking them with me to the track next week see how it goes.

Anyone on here know a good place to start with the pressure on these tires?
 
Start around 15-16psi and work from there. You'll probably end up around 12-13psi, but better to start a little high than be too low when you get there.
 
As for suspension my tokicos are shot and I have eibach pro kit. Am I better off trying to find some kinks or a new model koni(which ones are good from the new models). Or get some megans? I could re use the prokit with the konis I believe
 
There is no one that wants a fwd DSM when they offer AWD DSMs, I know I enjoy dumping the clutch at 6 grand and locking up street tires. There is nothing crazier than an all wheel drive launch.
 
^^^Ummm...if no one wants them, then why the hell do TONS of people own them and mod them? They are much lighter than the AWD from the factory. Spend $600, buy a nice set of JEGS aluminum wheels with M/T ET Street slicks and then launch like an AWD car (for the most part). And guess what, you don't have to worry about 3 times the amount of drivetrain parts exploding and costing you 5 times the money to replace and/or get it built!
 
Why do these awd guys keep posting here. We don't care about your comments guys, we are fwd and love it. We should all go to the awd threads and say how they suck LOL. Can't we live in a world where all Dsm guys and gals get along, and show respect for others choice in drivetrain. I mean come on, come to the highway with your launch see who's laughing then.
 
Looks like I won't be getting any shakedown runs in any time soon. I took the eclipse out of storage yesturday and then today I went and broke 2 bones in my ankle playing hockey. Yeah that sucks
 
I ran my gst this weekend still need to get my tune better. But I ran my best time so far of 14.385. It's getting there I need slicks on this track because it's old and pretty slick. The funny part is I smoked my tires bad in 1st gear but then caught traction and took off. Hoping with a much better tune for next month I can see some 13's

Don't worry about the time (14 seconds). Everyone that thinks they are going to run 12's with a street tires and cut 1.7 60's are out of there minds (Or they are amazing drivers, or have some SERIOUS money in there setup). At least you got some seat time! Use that as motivation to keep pushing your car and driving skills! You have to start some where! Got a video?
 
I tried to do a few runs at Gainesville last wensday, as I was pulling out of tech the roll pin for the 1-2 shift rail poped out. So im putting it all back togeather in the morning but now with safety wire through all the roll pins (Shep's Idea). Hitting Gainesville again wensday.

Anyone know whats the quickest h-pattern FWD DSM? Honda's got the fwd game on lock, would be nice to see the DSM world giving them comp.

That record will be mine before I switch to auto.... Give me till the end of the year, then who knows whats next.

Those 26'' mickeys swell a bit. I was only shifting at 8200, it spun pretty much all the way down the track. Hopefully Orlando SpinWorld will have the track preped up nice on sunday for the event. My very last pass I broke the driverside axle at the line. Funny thing was I replaced the passenger axle yesterday morning and thought about doing the driver side but said ehhh.

Note to ALL FWD, 2g stock axle's are about 26mm thick. GSP axles from Advance Auto Parts are 31mm thick, $60 bucks a pop, lifetime so when you break em' new ones for free. And in 7 Years of messing with Fwd's this was the first axle ive ever broke, PRE-LOAD!!!!
