What Turbo is this? [Merged] Turbo ID Identification

Turbine wheel looks to be about 67mm. I cant really measure the compressor wheel very well with the cover on but it looks about 54mm.

There are way better turbo choices for far less money out there....namely the Evo III 16G.

Correct- larger displacement engines would benefit from the reduced backpressure, but someone with a stroker is not going to settle for 18G airflow on their build.

It's just a poor wheel combo for a 4-cylinder. These were originally intended for use on diesel tractors which favored low boost and lots of turbine flow because of the high compression. Our cars are the opposite of that.

Hey my friend just got this turbo for free and he is wondering what it is. I thought maybe you guys could help me. He wants to know what it is and if its even possible to try to adapt it to a dsm or worth it.

Looks like a GT37 or GT40 from an International diesel.

Is it worth adapting? Probably not. You're going to spend a lot of time and money making this turbo fit which is too large for your car anyway.

The really only way to figure out is to measure the compressor wheel

Looks like some type of T04B Garrett, but without pics and / or measurements of the compressor and turbine wheels, it's anybody's guess.

I looked at the thread but it was impossible to find out specifically what turbo I have.

I don't have the turbo on me, so I can't measure it at the moment. Any help is appreciated

You can tell the trim of the compressor without a pic or measurements of the wheel itself? You're good.

I can tell you this much- Garrett only put T04E50 compressor wheels behind T04E compressor covers, and his turbo definitely does not have a T04E cover.

buying a turbo from a guy on this forum, says its a fp green but want absolute certainty thats what it is. Ive heard of people getting ripped off on here. Not that i dont trust the guy just want to verify.

It's a Green. Did you think an individual could actually duplicate the stamp that FP uses on the compressor cover?

no i knew it was a real fp turbo. Just didnt know if they had older 50 trims or whatever. Wanted to make sure it was actually a green!

Ok and I know this doesn't have to deal with this topic but ill be making out my EVO 560s before I upgrade. I heard 650s are big enough to max the turbo out on pump.

It's a 48 lb/min turbo; 560cc of fuel just isn't going to cut it if you're planning on maxing out this unit.

I would go with at least 1000cc injectors, on my 54 trim I was flowing 49 lb/min and my IDCs were a bit over 90%
