Oh really... so a small 16G is not stock on a 1991 eclpise GSX huh... cause as i was pulling it off there was some kind of glue seal all over the water return... and i didnt think the company was that messy when the car was made from the factory... but thats cool then it has no shaft play so looks like its a keeper.. cause i was looking into a T04E the one on ebay but guess i'll just stick wit this cause i just orderd a 2G exhaust man.. thats ported oh yea so what I do know cause the manfiold has a whole for a wastegate to be added.. but this turbo has it inside so am I ####ed or do I plug up the Exhaust W/G whole???? thanks guys u been a real help...

looks like some sort of 20g. Maybe just a tdo5h-20g looks like the tdo5h turbine.

I don't know if any of these questions will be seen, but..

I wasn't able to create a thread. I just signed up. Will this change?

I am looking at getting a 1992 Talon Tsi with a "bad turbo." The guys says it runs fine but the turbo doesn't work. I was planning on doing some small upgrades, but I was wondering if was going to replace the turbo, what should I go for? I'm not looking at a big upgrade, but something that might be able t bolt right on to the manifold and be able of a little more boost, but not much. Basically, IfI have to buy a replacement, I might as well buy something that will be nice? Or should I just et another 14b? (Which I assume is on it...)

What bolts right on?

Ok, I picked this Holset turbo up off ebay a few months back as something to experiment with on my winter build up. it had just been rebuilt before I got it and the guy was going to polish the compressor housing so he thought it would be a good idea to remove the id tag and all the lettering except where it says Holset, therefore i have no idea what exactly this turbo is. i have done a ton of searching, comparing, etc. and I am about to give up on this but I was hoping someone here could help me figure out exactly what I have. Any help appreciated! Thanks
I am capbale of measuring the wheel and hings like, but I dont know exactly what variant of a Holset this one is, or if it has a t3 exhaust flange or a t4 flange.

Ok guys,
I bought this turbo at an estate sale almost a year ago, just because. My GST is basically stock, and has the stock T25 in it. I bought this because I knew the number on the cartridge was definitely not that of a T25, and it was most definitely lager than a T25 compressor wheel.
I have some pics of it, and have even searched the net for it. Garrett registers the cartridge number to be that of a GT30 series center section. That number being 705329-2.
So thus I called Forced Performance (and later two other turbo shops), and they told me its a ball bearing series of their Big T28 turbo. But I dont know if the guy was just BSing me or not. So I'd appreciate some experienced help.
Honestly when spinning the turbo it doesnt feel like a ball bearing turbo, but I guess I've never had one in my own hands before, but I've seen how fast they spin and this one just doesnt spin that fast. Course I keep it full of oil when Im spinning it as well just in case it is a journal bearing turbo.
It has shaft play, but doesnt scrape the housings, so I dont think its out of spec. It looks new except for the fact that it looks like somone was running very lean with it and it backfired a few times.

It does look like a t28. I have one sittin in my garage that looks just like that. Does the exhaust housing have anything stamped on the top were the gasket would go between the manifold and turbo. Mine has the fp emblem stamped on it were the gasket would set.

Yea I figured it wasnt a GT30, didnt look nearly big enough. Also I forgot to add it has a 17psi WG actuator. I guess I've never paid attention to the flange. Its boxed up right now so I cant look to see very easily. I know of the two FP turbo's I've seen, only one was marked, and it was ported, the other wasnt. So maybe they only mark the ones that are ported?

a turbo that isn't filled with oil is going to have some shaft play, thats normal. Get it on the motor and prime it and get it running. you'll know if its ball bearing because you can turn the motor off and hear it spinning as it spools down, although with such little inercia the t28 might not do it as well, with the compressor and turbine wheel being so small and massless.

I had no idea fp made a ball bearing t28, it amazes me that someone would want to spend MORE than usual for a t28,... as if it doesn't spool quick enough, LOL

Just picked up another DSM and Id like to know what turbo it has, it has "Mitsubishi" casted on it and points straight down, so im thinking its a 20G, but when i look at pics of a 20G they usually have a flat spot where the wastegate bracket bolts mounts on, well mine does not have this flat spot. See pics below, top is mine and bottom is a 20G from SBR... see the flat section?

well, now's the time to throw on some 550cc injectors, afpr, and an safc or chip with the turbo and you'll be running very nice compared to right now :D

What did you pay for it and what kind sale on ebay was it.

I got this turbo off a talon for nothing and im not sure what it is. but there is a few different turbos with the TD05h tagging on them. so maby one of the more experienced guys can place a name on it. I think its a 16G but im not sure.
