This is probably a dumb question, but what is the part called that holds the front suspension in place and bolts up to the knuckle in a 1g? Does anyone know where i can find this part? :hmm:
 
I would like to use a similar one to brace my turbo to the block somehow.

You've read up on this issue, yes? I'll assume that you are doing this because you have a tubular manifold. Keep in mind that rigid bracing can be worse than no bracing, since the manifold expands when hot. Talk to the people that made your manifold. This is not something to just cobble together.

Havent really read much on it. I have a cheapo obx manifold So I am trying to support the turbo somehow.

A pretty sure fire brace that WONT have any negative side effects, is to imitate the factory down pipe to block brace... I know it doesn't carry much of the turbo's weight but. It sure couldn't hurt and would help prevent the exhaust from acting as a crow bar on the turbo/manifold setup as it moves around.

Also I have seen some tubular manifolds that run a welded solid rod from the collector flange to the exhaust port flange. Just thought i'd toss that out there, as either might be easier to do.
 
I'm gonna try and do as much as I can to make mine work by myself, without spending another cent on it. If I have to do that, I may as well just buy an ERL. Been waiting to hear back from OBX myself, but think I'm gonna scrap that idea. Knowing my luck, I'd send it back and never see a manifold or my money again.

I of course knew what I was getting into when I purchased this thing though so I can't complain. Lol.

would work pretty good. I wouldn't use the swage tube to apply any push/pull pressure to the turbo though cause that will force it to crack pretty fast.

Wow. Nice shot. Definitely a knuckle. Lower arm, and the rear subframe. Check other surrounding components as well. The upper control arm, the strut. Rear swaybar. You'd be surprised what gets brittle with that kind of impact.
 
You can drop it off at a collision shop, and pay thousands of dollars.

or just buy replacement parts..the control arm is $30..the frame can be found easily...the fwd rear hubs are a dime a dozen..post in the classifieds or on craigslist youll find all those parts easily.
 
Find someone doing an AWD swap and I'm sure you could get a whole new rear subframe and control arms for next to nothing. I'd give you mine if you weren't on the wrong side of the continent :p It would only take about 2 hours to swap the whole thing.
 
^^ this... its too bad you aren't in the chicago area.. im selling my leftover sub frame from my awd swap.... but thedsmgraveyard.com has fwd rear sub frames for 79.99 and correct me if im wrong you can use a rear sub frame from a non turbo dsm so it might only require a trip to the junkyard cause non turbos are much more common to find there.
 
You may want to replace the upper control arm and trailing arm too. It may have tweaked them and you wouldn't know unless you spend for an alignment or chew your rear tire off.

My list would be.
Fwd Subframe or if your considering someday awd conversion just go ahead and get it set up for awd since you have to get a subframe and knuckles anyways.
Knuckles
trailing arms
upper control arms
lower control arms
I would also look into the N/T fwd subframe. That would widen your range of junk yards that would have what you need.
 
Damn that sucks. Like evryone else above me has said; your better off getting a whole new rear subframe. If not you most likely have to get a new bracket welded so that you can mount the lower control arm once again.

Im sure if you decide to just get it rewelded it will end up costing more than just switching to a new subframe. What city do you live in??? If you live close I can probably lend a hand finding/fixing the problem. there is a few N/A eclipses in my local junk yard.
