There is no need to sand the gel coat off. Fiberglass hoods have gelcoat too. No one is removing the gel coat to paint/clear them.
My cousin recleared his cf hood. Just a basic sanding to give the clear some adhesion and all was well.
Sounds like BS to make the price crazy. I have a friend that paints that is going to take care of it for me along with my 2gb bumpers and fender
This is why I love this website and why I mentioned it here. I had the feeling this was the case, but I know NOTHING about autobody or anything related to it. I think what I'll do is get some cans of 2K clear and just sand it/re-clear it myself. If I make it look like a cats butthole then I'll just get it wrapped.
