There is no need to sand the gel coat off. Fiberglass hoods have gelcoat too. No one is removing the gel coat to paint/clear them.
My cousin recleared his cf hood. Just a basic sanding to give the clear some adhesion and all was well.

Sounds like BS to make the price crazy. I have a friend that paints that is going to take care of it for me along with my 2gb bumpers and fender

This is why I love this website and why I mentioned it here. I had the feeling this was the case, but I know NOTHING about autobody or anything related to it. I think what I'll do is get some cans of 2K clear and just sand it/re-clear it myself. If I make it look like a cats butthole then I'll just get it wrapped. :p

Finally replaced my broken driver seat with nrgs and installed new set of FIC 1200 high z injectors along with the resistor delete plug. Now time to figure out the tune, hopefully jersey weather cooperates

I fired her up and cruised for a half hour then went by mom's. When I left, I tried to get used to launching this light flywheel but I guess Imma have to just stand on her at her 6200 2 step and let her go. Bucking on a launch is never good for a time. She still clicked of the usually 12.6 at 127 and I think her "limiter" is the TIRES. I am spinning all thru 1st, 2nd and mostly all of 3rd to only get real traction in 4th. I will be looking for some "stickys" this year. That means breaking parts :ohdamn: :nono:
I DID test a 60mph hit and the car will break boost to over 15 lbs and I can't hold her at 60 (plus she just spins) so I will work on practicing that for times that I venture to Mexico.
Just havin fun in the car I made. ✌️

Started adding a little bit of sound deadener to the car. Not gonna go crazy but just to help quiet things down a bit.

Inspired by legitstreetcars? I’m doing the same with my trunk and doors.

Final stretch on getting the car back together. Just need to rebuild the axles and take care of some punch list items and it will be back on the ground again.

Think I'm going to remove the brake line brackets since there isn't anywhere to put them since I have coil overs, and there isn't a good spot to mount them anywhere else either?

Haha, yes. I also watched a bunch of videos on it and decided to pull the trigger.

LOL 100% the same thing here. His videos honestly always inspire me to work on something.

Yeah, he seems like a great guy and his videos are great to watch. I actually helped him with his DSM throttle body rebuild, via emails. I was hoping he would give me a shout out on the video but it didn't happen LOL.

When installing sound deadening, pull the headliner and add some to the roof panel.

I added sound deadening to my car in stages, add some on the weekend, then drive a week. Next weekend, repeat. First the floor, then doors ,then the trunk area, finished with the roof. Adding to the floor did minor amounts, doors a decent amount, trunk area didn't notice much change (the package tray does the most work in the trunk). The roof however had the most noticeable change.

1ga no sunroof.

You are definitely correct about the roof. I have a sunroof 2G but from inside it's like tapping on a soda can. I added sound deadener and put it all back together. Unfortunately, I forgot to take 'after' pictures so I guess there's no need for the 'before' pictures.

If the headliner wasn't such a PITA to pull, you guys almost have me convinced. I swear I wonder sometimes if my neighbors just sit and watch me repeatedly assemble the car, drive it, then pull it apart and let it sit for weeks, only to rinse and repeat over and over again.

To non-car people it has to look like a mental illness or something.

"Honey, he's taking his car all the way a part again." "Again? Didn't he do that a few weeks ago?" "Yeah...poor guy. Remember not to walk the dogs anywhere near his house."
