The rain stopped my work on the Lancer so I decided to putz with the Talon. I decided to finally swap the steering wheel. I thought I could get away with brute force to pull the factory one. Done it before in junk yards, but it definitely wasn't happening on the Talon wheel.

Decided to go to HF and pick up a puller. It took quite a few tries to get it to work because the puller holes are so close together and the way the HF puller is made it almost doesn't work for it. Once I got it set up and got a good bite it took A LOT of force to get the wheel to pop off.

Once I got the wheel off I aligned my adapter and in trying to install the wheel realized I was going to need a spacer to install the horn. I took the horn out for now just to get the wheel installed. After doing some digging I figured I was probably better off just getting a quick release and getting it over with. I had some money set aside for car stuff anyway so I went ahead and ordered it. Should be here this week. I'll take the wheel back off and install it once it gets here.

Over the weekend of 5+ inches of rain. I put a pair of tires on the white rims and a old set of lowered coilovers. And I'm left with this!!

Ordered a Kicker 46CXA660.5T amp. Still trying to decide on the speakers. Just know that i am matching the speakers with this amp to run the front doors, rears and probably a single 2 ohm 10" sub. Will power the dash speakers with the head unit.

FIC 1600s that I got for a steal from a friend. Put some better looking drip rails on too. Made such a difference. Now I just have to work on that lower window trim

Also, installed my brand new modified OEM dipstick from STM. Had to strip the powdercoat from the bottom of the tube but after that it fit great.

Hopefully no more popping out under boost or spraying oil under boost!

So I'm not sure if my bottom end is eating itself or not. When I changed from the BI oil to the 10w40 HR5 at some mileage (50km maybe? I don't recall), I measured endplay by clutch depress to be 0.006. This is a tad looser than when on the stand where it had assembly lube on the thrust surfaces after I set #3 bearing.
It's been sitting since November and without running any new oil through it and having another maybe 450km added on, but it's now at 0.007 and will spike a tad further to 0.0074/5 on press of clutch before settling back.
I'm still near enough factory spec and well within service limit.. so it's possible that it's just found its happy spot but I'm still a bit bummed that it's even where it is. Of course, the first check didn't have 6 months of time for the oil to drain off so I guess all I can do now is check it every so often.

It's only had two oil changes; no flakes in the last oil filter just the standard sparklies and discolouration from the ARP lube which is basically everywhere -- head studs, main studs, rod bolts. That stuff lasts forever, though.

found some extra metal LOL

I'm just trying to make sure this thing can breathe. I've got the bottom and now the front cut out. We know it can get hot under the hood LOL

Well, after years of being on ecuflash and watching the dsmlink prices go up. I finally made the jump to dsmlink. Still learning all the videos of link on YouTube. Be patient if you see me post some logs, still new to this.
Speed density and a tune from Rix Racing within the next month.

Acoustic foam is "ok" for dampening reflection of higher frequency sound but you can't compress it with headliner material without severely reducing it's Q value. What's the goal for the foam?

as stock roof have that chopped cloth as sound dampener under headliner, that mix of materials do as vibration reduction, and silence sounds from outside and make roof more “stable” … i dont know how much it help, but i’ll try it .. and i glued all interior plastic panels with that foam from inside, so who knows, I won't give anything for trying 😁 at least plastic sound more “thick”, when you knock on it
