Street Build Resurrection of the Red 90 Talon

1990 Eagle Talon TSI trying to save her life from the previous owner and its alot of work but a nice base car. My youngest son, who also races this car has nicknamed her "The Red Baron".

I tried to get a date with a sweet young thing at the Chevy dealer, when I pulled in to talk to my son, who was in his little Honda Accord. She asked if she could help me with anything so I asked her if she was busy tonite? Well, that was a bust so I asked about any FAST CARS, (Mine is rumbling, menacingly), faster than THIS (the Red Talon)! We have the Mustang up in the front row, and, She said "We have the brand new Corvette, but said we'd have to have Special Permission to drive it, so I told her to tell Randal Roman's Marty said hi and left, hitting the 9200 rpm limiter. 🤣😎👍
Randal is the owner of the Chevy Dealer and I've "known" him for most of my life, but he's kinda "snobby". He also owns an 1st Gen Camaro like mine and always looks at mine but usually doesn't say "hi or how's it goin"?
That's most of the story.
After I got home, I was riding my 4x4 and the brakes failed, sending me thru a barbed wire fence. I hurt bad today. It clotheslined me and I am sore everywhere, especially my back and my ribs that broke one strand. I won't be doing anything for a week, I'm pretty sure. It was a horrible way to end a really good day. 🤕 I can barely move now.
Here is my son's $500 1987 Honda Accord with new wheels/tires on it, which is why we were both out flashing our cars around.

You gotta be careful Marty. Rib injuries and injuries in general from 4x4s can be more serious than you might expect. Rest and take it easy, don’t overdo it.

Marty! Sorry to hear about the end to that day getting banged up. At least you guys got the rides out and hammered down for a while!
Rest up! I hope you feel better asap!

Thanks guys! I'm really sore. I don't know if I can get my shirt off to take a shower. From the waste down I'm fine. The ribs and my neck and back are super sore and makes it hard to take a deep breath. You are all so special to be concerned. It will take a week or more but crossing fingers, I'll recover. I do honestly appreciate it :thumb:
At least I missed the fence POSTS.

Boy a nice HOT SHOWER actually felt GREAT so I spent a few extra minutes there. I'm up and movin around, but just slowly. I have few bumps, bruises and scrapes from flipping over the back of it. I feel lucky even tho it feels like i got beat up with a ball bat. :beatentodeath:
Thanks All :hellyeah:

Ouch. Sounds like you need a beer. I've done some crazy shit, but plowing through barbed wire has never happened LOL . Hoping for a strong recovery, Marty.

Get well soon Marty! I suggest you binge watch all the Rocky movies..No Pain!!

No seriously tho, I can relate, 2 months after buying my DSM back in 2013, I decided to endo my mother n laws 4 wheeler to avoid a barb wire fence LOL, broke my left arm and then passed out walking back to the road LOL, the doc said I was lucky to be walking, but hey I was only 30 LOL

Yeah Jeremy, if you break a bone, shock will set in. I had a little bout with it in the middle of the night.and knew what was going on. I am moving around better, but it will take me a little while to not complain (I'm not complaining, old farmers just have to keep on chuggin). All of you are so cool to have for friends!
Concerned = Friends 🧡

ur a tough one Marty ...hard for us "older teenagers" to not get out there and act all bullet proof ..but it's what keeps us going ...hope you recover real fast but the next few days are gonna be sore (ask me how i know LOL)

It was a horrible way to end a really good day. 🤕

Aw man that's a horrible ending for sure. Hope there's nothing permanently wrong.
I've been pretty much all-in on disaster avoidance for several years now. It's just too hard to deal with all this stuff as you get older.
Thanks for the story though!

Anything near your lungs or heart I tend to overreact on. Perks or cons of my job. :p

Glad you’re okay. But seriously don’t be a tough guy. If it randomly gets hard to breathe or you feel like you can’t catch your breath, time for an er visit. Same with any new onset dizziness, tightness in the chest, etc.

Thanks Cory! I got my neck back in place, (I'm hyper-flexible, sometimes that's good sometimes it's not) by self manipulation that I've done for ever. Now, this morning, I can get up out of a chair without needing some help. I'm healing up (but I'm old). I can get a nice deep breath now :thumb:

Wow, that's really really cool Steve! Thanks for the photo, it'll make my son smile for MILES :D
I only added his car back in so folks wouldn't have to scroll thru to see his 87 Accord. They sure are similar body's. Trevor said Honda and Toyota shared alot of things back then.

I owned a two tone silver and black GTS two cars before my GSX that looked much like this. I thought it was a pretty cool looking car for the mid 80's.

Toyota-Celica-GTS.jpg

It had way too much tire for it's weight and tried to kill me every time it snowed by doing 180s on the expressway at speed. For some reason the rear diff grenaded with less than 60k on it (must have had a leak) and got replaced by my MR2.

Toyotas and Hondas were strangely similar in the 90's. Compare a 1991 Toyota Corolla to a 1991 Honda Accord. If I chose a 4 door for every picture it'd be better, but regardless. What damn difference are you paying for?

(Marty can have his thread back at ANY time LOL )

Cool resemblances Solomon. I have seen some 4 doors on the road, thought they were Toyota, and ended up being a Honda or visa-versa. :ohdamn: :)

Feeling 1000% better, still got some sore ass ribs but trying to do all my normal stuff. One thing I can't do yet is pull start my tiller. I wanted to make a small patch for a garden so I'll have my son start it and I'll see if the Ole Ribbies will take the beating a tiller gives out. Thank you guys for keeping track of the old man and giving good advice (which, of course, the old farmer didn't do). Advil has been a friend of mine this last week!
I'm back to working on cars, but if I have to tug on a breaker bar, that's a NO. Get the Air Impact. I'm in the process of changing rear strut/spring combos on my DD Saturn SC2 and sway bar end links. I can handle the end links, I'm gonna have to ask my son to help get to the "top hats" unbolted as they are hidden under the package tray in the rear of it. He's a great guy and will gladly lend dad a hand, so I'll try to keep him around as long as he can put up with the "old codger".
I am taking the Red 90 to town tonight for a 6-8pm car meet uptown, where they block off a couple city blocks to let the cars in. It usually has a live band going also. No screwin around tonite tho, I've got Prom tomorrow night and the '67 RS Camaro will be the escort car. I got her out and dusted her off for a nice showing. The car show people have seen it way too many times, so the DSM is going in tonight, rocking her "Blacks".

Thanks for the compliment, I like changing her wheels/tires for a different look (and Maybe some GRIP?).
Doing backflips at the age of 61 is not something I recommend, :ohdamn:

My "toys" came in today, so one Red 90 Talon will be in the car at tonight's get together! ❤️ 😍
