What’s up everyone, this is the beginning of project Resurrection Red Devil. First time DSM owner, always been a fan. Little back story, I recently moved to Phoenix, AZ and have been itching to get into a project car with my boys. One morning scrolling through marketplace looking for my next bad financial decision I came across this red ‘93 1GB Talon TSi for $200!!! She is literally a bare bones rolling chassis… No engine, trans, diffs… nothing!!! It started its life as a manual chassis though. But anyways for $200, I took that as a sign and immediately jumped on it. Loaded up the trailer drove across Phoenix to go pick this gem up, the wife definitely thought I was crazy, maybe I am… oh well. So that’s a quick rundown of how I got the car.

Got the 1G home, interior is mostly there… dash, front and rear seats, center console, rear quarter plastics and both door cards… it is dusty but a quick wipe down and some conditioning should make a huge difference.

First things first, I got to stripping the interior and seeing what I can salvage… so far the seats do have wear and tear but I’m not too worried about it. Good news is, I haven’t found any rust. I still have to carefully remove the dash. Once that’s done I’ll go find some dry ice and remove the nasty old sound deadening. The chassis came equipped with a W5M33 transmission… which I believe is a 5 speed manual, but I found a Forced Four shift box installed. So I’m assuming somewhere down the line they were converting it to an automatic trans… explains why they removed the clutch pedal and clutch master cylinder…

Happy late Thanksgiving everyone, haven’t got much done to the Talon, spending Thanksgiving weekend with the family. I did manage to give the front seats a quick wipe down… they’re in pretty rough shape, thinking of either selling them to someone who would like to bring them back from the dead or buy a set of new seat skins to replace these… next update should be removing the sound deadening to lighten this bird up a bit.
