Hi

I have a question about where to put my stock coolant overflow tank.
We installed a punishment racing FMIC kit for a 93 AWD talon. But the pipe that goes back to the intake manifold disturbs the coolant overflow tank from being put in the stock position.
Does any one have an easy fix for this?
Thank you

Due to the size of stock coolant overflow tanks they are usually one of the things replaced early on in car builds with varying things from aftermarket units to soda bottles with a hole in the lid so a tube can run down in them (tube should go to bottom so the unit can pull coolant back out of the bottle when the car cools)

I can't give you any advice on relocating the stock unit, but i will say that i've rarely ever had an issue when removing them and replacing them with variouse other objects like described above. The unit on my car now has less than 12fluid ounce holding capacity and my coolant temps consistantly range from 178* on highway cruising to 198* in traffic, and that's pretty damn good. In fact my coolant tank really doens't function much (it's able to just doesn't) My coolant level is usually consistantly just to the top of the t-stat when cold and sitting over night. when the car warms up its pressurized and maybe a few ounces at most works its way back and forth through the overflow... Anyway, point is you don't need that stock one, find something cool looking or functional and replace the old plastic stock unit.

Honestly I ran my car for over a year with mine removed completely. Ran a hose from the neck to down in front of the transmission. Never once did I run low.

Spotweld cutter bit. Remove the mount- 2 spotwelds takes less than a minute. Relocate the mount further toward the tranny and either tack weld or use self tapping ss screws to refasten the mount, slide the coolant rezzy back on and viola!!! This is the way I like to do it, though you have to extend the wires for the plug a bit.:thumb:

I've read on several honda forums that there's a 20-30hp gain to be had from simply switching from a gatorade to a NOS energy drink bottle, I can feel it on the butt-dyno for sure, but havne't had the time to get to the dyno because i've been spnding all my money on new go fast stickers and chrome tape to help improve mid-range and top end HP!!!!!!

On a side note, i saw a 7hp/11 lb/ft loss by adding a "chris gaines" sticker i had lerft over from the tour, although i lost horse there was a substantial increase in traction off the line, i guess cuntry music isn't the best for street driving but great for off-road/mud. i bet a bocephus sticker would be worth at least 12hp/15lb/ft gain if i could find one!

There are also smaller and remote-mount coolant reservoirs available from autozone, etc...about $40 bucks though

A gatorade bottle...really? What about the warning light you get in the cluster that the sensor is not hooked up. I'd like to keep this stock coolant overflow if possible.
I only saw one solution still.

In that case I'm guessing pouring a pint of jack Daniels in the gas tank is like pure race fuel... Should I retune for this?:hellyeah:

K, well, the solution is obvious. Find somewhere else in your engine bay where it fits reasonably well, then put it there. extend wiring. extend hose. Use a teeensy weeeensy bit of ingenuity.

I just made a bracket and relocated mine to the firewall. Now I don't have a stupid soda bottle under my hood and I also didn't pay a ridiculous price for a stainless one that would have been painted anyways.

Lolz.
I was looking for one of those big 50hp back window "H" stickers but they are hard to come by...

Now if you wanted to dump an instant 200 hp into your ride, could you stack 4 "h" stickers or would the sticker weight start to cause parasitic power-loss?

Stacking of stickers is in the realm of "diminishing returns", where one sticker is 50hp, the second one stacked may only be worth 30, and say 21hp for the third and as little as 7-10hp on the fourth. definitely gonna hurt aerodynamics more than increasing power to stack that many LOL.

AS for the jack daniels, in the south it makes a hell of a difference, but cross the mason dixon line and you better swap to vodka or the plugs will foul and a truck full of yankees will steal your whip while you're walking to get some help.

making power has gotten so complicated these days, i remember when all i needed to win was a "type R" badge, and some "Si" emblems and nothing could touch me.. now everyone has them and finding the next big performance increase is a trial and error affair.. Although i have been thinking about buying actual engine components, maybe an intake manifold and so on but we all know that stuff is pointless once you get past the K&N's 15hp increase :D

I still need to take a 4 inch hole saw to the rear bumper though, that's the hotness, but thankfully most others can't get their harbor freight cordless drill to turn a holesaw that big long enought to get through the ABS cover

(sorry to clutter, i'll stop now :D)

I use the early 90's accord overflow containers in cars that i run a short route intercooler. It can be made to fit in the stock mount.
