ok well ive been dding the talon for a while now and needless to say its been intereting. but im finally to a point where i got all the bugs worked out and i FINALLY have a new dd. LOL dont laugh its a mini van got it for my wife its a 98 crystler town and country lxi with AWD. any ways i figure its time to finally get seriose and start saving for some real mods.

Ok my car is a 92 talon tsi awd auto. Im looking for suggestions on my upgrade plans. This is just a mild upgrade plan because im still learning having only been in dsm for about two years running mostly stock. upgrades i have so far are as listed

dejon intake and MBC
boost gauge
full three inch exhaust minus stock 02 housing
afpr
wally 255lph and a rewire kit
14b i know its a factory turbo but its an upgrade from a td04
factory 5 speed eprom ecu and 450cc injectors
FP racing header
road surge shift box

Ok thats it so far now. Im preparing a list of things for this winter when the car wont be driven. For now im looking to max out the factory set up before getting into the big stuff. so far ive come up with this to do it.

link
innovative wide band
vsrf inter-cooler kit
stm timing kit with a gates purple belt and BSE
rebuild the throttle body from throttlebodies.com there 63mm rebuild
new 3g lifter
k stamped 5 speed cams from my parts car
2g or evo maf
3 in o2 housing with open o2 dump

Ok thats it so far i think. Any thing else any one can think of. Im a firm believer of doing things right the first time so thats the reason for this post i want to run it by you guys so i know if im missing any thing. I plan on taking her to the track soon and getting some times for a base line so i can monitor my improvements. Thanks in advance.

ok so getting a good check with a bonus so im getting some maintenance done before the big mods this winter. im doing a full timing change all pulleys belts and tensioners and while im at it im gona replace the lifters with some 3g's. them new pads and rotors along with new struts and springs

Just bought a 91 Eagle Talon Tsi Awd auto with 71k miles, all stock. Going to start a build. Here with you.

ok got my timing kit all orderd and new "3g" lifter also got a new throttle body from throttle bodies.com no more leaky faiv and leaky shaft seals yay. fixing my boost leak and phantom knock all at once she gona pull like a beast again.

I think it would really be worth investing in cleaning the body of the car. Look into body repair work and if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, than you can take it to a shop. Also, pull the engine and everything out of the bay at some point and respray the car all one solid color. You'll love it so much more when it looks as good as it sounds.

Ok so lets start this off by saying its time for a new engine. The talon is going to be down for awhile like maby a year undergoing some major changes.

So about a week or so ago i started hearing and occasional tick from the bottom end well i changed the oil and noticed a tiny amount of metal shimmer in the oil. So i cut my oil filter open to check for any major amount of metal. Well there wasnt much but it was there. It was silver and copper material so im guessing its bearings. I'll know later today when finish tearing the block apart. Any ways engine is all removed and such. Heres some pics, ill post some more later after im done tearing the block down with the verdict on what happened.

Looks good man, glad to hear the rods and mains are ok. Are you just having the rest of the block and head double checked?

The build is looking good. At least you decided to dive into making sure the car runs perfect before taking on any major power. Thats the first mistake everyone makes. It looks like your having fun with the build. Keep up the good work.

yay parts will be here next week. got a oem oil pan gasket cus ive heard bad thing about aftermarket ones along with an oem intake mani and TB gaskets. paper gaskets with boost pressure seems like bad waiting to happen. also had my throttle bodie rebuilt by steve at Throttlebodies.com. also new ngk plugs and wires. new shaft seals for the tranny and new motor mounts. now all I need to get is fluids. getting mitsu auto tranny, rear diff, and tcase oil. along with some high zinc content break in oil for the motor.

the dealer ship and no theres a gasket there. its a rubber one with grooves between the bolts for the rtv to sit in. its the exact same gasket that came off my car when I tore it down. unless it leaked and one of the previose owners fixed it. but I just went to the local mitsu dealer ship.

so a quick update I got the engine and tranny all installed. that all went well. I started it all well sounded nice. oil pressure went to 75 psi max which was a big relief because I didn't think I ported my OFH enough to compensate for the BSE. now on to the bad news I didn't seat my torque converter all the way and I broke my tranny pump. after letting the car idle for about 5 mins. I figured I would put it in gear and run it through each gear make sure I hooked up every thing right and get the fluid pumping through the system well it wouldn't go into gear. shut car off took tranny out and pump is broke. now to the worst news its a discontinued part from Mitsubishi. I couldn't find one any where I searched for days no luck. finally a buddy told me to try this tranny shop that rebuilt his tranny well they managed to find ONE. just one I belive the last one on the entire west coast or maby nation even LOL. IPT JACKS ENGLISH RACING and METRO couldn't even get me one. so im waiting to pick that to come in and reinstll the trans and finally break this bi*** in.

oh and AWD tuner you were correct about it being rtv from the factory.

ok its been some time since ive been on here. update I found a pump it was 500 bucks. I said screw that and just picked up a used auto trans for 300. it has under a 100k.any ways got the trans all installed. and a had a huge scare when I started it. I lost my torque converter to flex plate bolts and bought some new bolts but they were a little long so I shimmed them with some washers. started the car and there was a supper loud knocking. thought the engine was toast. but it was the torque converter bolts hitting the block so I took the all out and cut them down used some lock tight and put them back in and all was good.

finally got to drive it after 6 months broke it in using the motor man method and haven had a problem yet. currently at 1200 miles and runs like a dream. no phantom knock or any hiccups.
