Ok guys, Long time dsmtuners reader and first time posting...take it easy on me....thanks :thumb:

First off, with the amount of mods I have right now(please read mod list), and only a few missing ingredients(FMIC and Cams). I was hoping to get about somewhere in the 275's.

I just got back from AMS IL. Dyno and came back with 233 hp's and 241Tq's tuned to 19lbs of boost(first time ever dyno) and overall not very happy with my low Hp's/Tq's number....I believed I did everything right. The mechanic says I lost about 20Hp's because of my AT trans and about another 15hp's from my too small stock smic. He recommends a fmic and cams with net me better results.....will that get me over 300hp's? what you guys think? boost leak? ditch the auto? ditch the car? thx!

here is my mod list:
1. FP Big T28 ported w/ 17psi actuators
2. Injen intake w/ K&N cone
3. Greddy Upper and lower icp w/Type S BOV
4. AMS CNC Manual boost controller @19lbs.
5. AMS 580CC injectors
6. Walboro 255 Fuel Pump
7. S-Afc
8. Boost/ Air/Fuel gauges
9. Apeix N1 Exhaust and Downpipe(not Cats)
10. Tuned by AMS(http://www.automotosports.com/)

I think that is an alright number for the mods you have. You definately need a FMIC though if you want to make any HP with a bigger turbo. As for the automatic trans, it will cause you to lose some HP on the dyno, but if you don't mind the a/t, keep it. If you get a FMIC and cams, I'm sure you will be closer to the 300whp range. The guys at AMS know what they're doing.

Well, if it makes you feel any better..you are making 279hp...at the crank :D
All kidding aside, it's still a good start.
and I thought it was 17%-20% loss from an auto tranny...

I think something is wrong with ur car. I dynoed my AWD on intake, exhaust, smic, fuel pump and afc2 with a 14b at 19psi and i put down the same number. And this wasnt tuned...just leaned it out a bit. You are fwd and are using a turbo that is 16g territory...you should be in the 260 range. You may want to also look into that dyno reading low although i have see ams dynos and their cars dont seem to dyno very low :p

ps: boost leak test is a good start.

That's what I thought also...I settled down a little since yesterday and realize it's not so bad for an automatic, but then I started thinking about it again today and realized that it was a very hot day that day when it was dyno( in upper 90's). We waited for a little while and I gained about 11 extra Hp just waiting the enigne to cool down. I guess a FMIC will likely net me better results the next time around. thx guys..

For all you Big FP T28 fan out there I can confirm one thing. Even for an AT trans car. The turbo don't come alive until 5K rpm. After that, the car just took off like a rape ape. It was insane how this turbo works. Unfornately, AT trans car suffers alot of power lost because the car shift way too early to go pass 5K any longer then a few seconds. what you guys think can help remedy this situation? Shift Kit? end clutch?

Anyway, I took my ride out for some fun last night and decide to open it up at WOT. I notice the car bogs down sometimes and the BOV flutters. Like all of sudden when I eased off the gas....it feel like I was hit a slow stick. :notgood: It only happened a few times. I check the piping and everything look and feel tight and doesn't seem like boost leak or anything...what gives?

Since you registered in July of 05 we'll be nice. (You hear that everyone, be nice!!)

You can't simply *look* for a boost leak. Doesn't work. You have to actually test the system. Just type in Boost Leak Tester in the search button and you'll see what we're talking about. It's quite easy. Wiseman oldman does a boost leak test a minimum of every oil change. AND every single time he takes off anything that is remotely related to his turbo/intercooler. That is where you need to start, with a boost leak test. After you do one post back.

If you dont see full boost til 5k on a t28 auto or not, something is definitely not right.

No, no. That's definitely not what I meant to say. The BigT28 hit full boost a little bit over 3K to red line. As we were doing the dyno runs and also on the street the turbo just became more powerful after 5k..like it reach level 2 or something. you can hear a higher pitch also. LOL!

About the boost leak test. I didn't have a chance to get one done, but we figured out what gone wrong with my ride and boost leak was definitely the cause.....as I sealed up the icp and all. Now, my ride screams down the road at wot! with no hestitation.

Hook up the leak tester anyway, you might be shock to find out what else is there. Why settle for running well when you can easily make it near perfect.

We'll definitely do that once we put one together and figured out how to test it. Thx guys. so far, very happy with my ride. I will post my dyno results once I get my FMIC in.
