why such low numbers from holset? (quest for 450whp turbo)

Didnt want to make a new thread on the same topic. Just got the car tuned last weekend. setup was a hx35 twin scroll housing/ts manifold, meth injection at 25 psi...ONLY MADE 348HP 373LBS??? Thats evo 3 turbo status??? No boost leaks or exhaust leaks. Any ideas...its the 7 blade too.

It would belong in the Holset result thread but anyway those are really low dyno numbers for sure. What fuel are you using? Also your bc cams may not be the best choice so that's something to look at and further tuning options. Overall seems around 100 hp short from other comparable dyno charts using similar setup (ex. Mr.Peepers dyno sheet)

It's all in the combination and the tune. It's highly unlikely its the turbo letting you down. Especially if it is in good health.

If you are complaining about your results and want to know why.. you're going to need to post:

1) Dyno sheet
2) Data log
3) Full setup detail

And verify that items like basic mechanical timing is correct. BC cams could well be part of your problem, no matter how much you probably don't want to hear that.

With WTQ > WHP on a 56mm or larger turbo in a big exhaust housing on a 2.0.. I'm thinking your cams are off if they are installed straight up on stock gears.

Advanced Exhaust, Retarded intake.. Both Advanced, any of the above could do it. They have been found to be ground off stock or even advertised centerline in the past, QC issues.

Log(tps at 98%) afr at 11.5, 91 pump gas 50/50mix meth injection

setup in profile

Also the cames are installed straight up. I thought BC 272 cams were a good choice but you guys might be right. has Stock intake manifold too which is another reason why power drops off in higher RPMS

What awhp i could expect from a HX40 8 blade on a T3 housing? I have read and searched and everyone have 6 or 7 blade HX40 ( ._.) I have all the supporting mods to make 600awhp easy but seems that let's say 500awhp will be made at 40psi :/ thats a lot of boost for such low number.

The 8 blade is low boost efficient and has a smaller compressor wheel than the super hx40 6 and 7blades which you have to run a little higher boost. The 8blade will spool faster than the 6 and the 7 blade will spool in-between (5kish rpm 30psi)

He thought the 6 and 8 were the same compressor. Oopsie

And also. For what it's worth. I made 400hp at 22psi on my 7 blade 60mm hx40 on 92 oct piss gas.

I made about the same with the previous SCM6152 that went away

Yea.. true. Only 28 psi 8 blade Hx40 made 461 awhp.

I'm looking make 450-480 without passing 30psi :/

My precision failed for second time so, i wanted to change it etc and found this 8blade in awesome condition but after searching around and reading etc my hopes point towards other turbo.

FWIW, I the day I bought my car from the previous owner it made 565hp on 32 psi at MAPerformance on a BEP .55 hx 40 with a FP cast manifold on a stock long block besides some hks 272s. These are dynojet numbers and I think their dyno is pretty generous in the first place, but it still shows that the power you want is easily attainable with that setup.

That would still be about ~500-505whp on a MD, which is inline with what I would expect from an HX40 at that boost with a good tune. Even in the .55 BEP housing.

I have seen that thread before, i think like one person posted in there, with the 8blade/40. I was thinking of modify to fit a 6/7 wheel

Shouldnt have to modify anything as far as i know. All the shafts are the same size? Different turbine blade specs though.... Well your compressor cover yes.

You should get the BAE 62mm compressor cover and wheel.
