A few months ago, I could turn the boost up from 17psi(wastegate pressure) to 25psi using my hallman mbc. My waste line crack and came off one day, car hit 30psi easy and held 25-27psi to redline. Timing map wasn't set for it so it had knock. Fixed line and installed JMF street manifold and 1g TB. Now boost will spike to 23-24psi and fall to 19psi, and this is with the MBC screwed all the way down to max boost setting. Car feels faster, more power on less boost, but is this all a E16g can do on a 2.3 with 264 cams, evo manifold, dejon sidemount, and Hahn O2?

The manifold gave the car some top end power, but hurt torque and spool up some. Antilag launch before would spin all four tires, now they dont even chirp. 1g bov is dodge modded so it hold higher boost.

Problem solved. Car now spikes to 37psi and tapers to 30psi at redline. NO KNOCK ON PUMP GAS!!!

Changes:
-Dodge Mod BOV to hold more boost
-FIAV Free bypass
-VRSF FMIC
-Wrapped post intercooler pipes and turbo intake pipe with gold DEI wrap
-3" intake to 4"\6" inclosed filter
-intake snorkel to front bumper scoop (ram air)
-switched from MAF to speed density (nice bump in power)
-JMF catch can
-new MBC (hallman pro with two springs)
-160* thermostat

Injectors 720s are maxed. Switching to larger and going E85 and a nice cam

Nice man! Ive been wondering the same about my car, I have a stock 1g BOV that with the MBC maxed out it will only spike to 27psi and settle to about 22-24psi. And I was wanting to run 30+ psi.

Only thing I dont have that u listed fixed your problem is: dodge modded BOV, Speed Density, and my post Intercooler pipes wrapped (which I will do soon), and I have a Punishment Racing FMIC instead of VRSF (for now).

when you say you have a new hallman pro with 2 springs instead of one, what do u mean? I bought my brand new hallman pro around April and was thinking it was my problem (along with a stock 1g BOV not holding any more boost) but idk how to tell if it has 2 springs or 1 in it.

The key to getting it to spike high is cold air temps and no MAF. Intake must be routed to fresh air. I put two springs in to increase pressure. I am thinking it is too stiff and that is why I am hitting 37psi. I did put one shim behind the wastegate actuator.

Between 3-5k rpm, there is about 2 degrees down to .5 of knock retard... 95% duty cycle ast 5k. Your Boostest is at 40, is your MAP sensor showing 37 down to 30 when it tapers? Im curious, can you show pic of map and airflow Lb/min at that boost. Looks good but your pushing the effeciency of the Evo III past 24 psi or 40 lb/min. That turbo is living hell right now man...:(

thats .4 - .7* of knock, which in my book is no knock, cause I can get that on just free revving.
:hmm: Maybe its just the photo, looks higher when its enlarged like that on my laptop. cool can you post up a log or another pic with all parameters, :sneaky:

I just finished the intake setup today. The boost is too high. Im sure the car is only doing so good because of the cold air temps. My goal is to get a HX40, I bought the car with this turbo on it, so I am pushing it to work out any kinks before I get the bigger turbo. Injectors are maxed, plan on upgrading and switching to E85.

My VE table needs some fine tuning. I have been fighting knock since I got the car. New knock sensor, rubber washers to shield out phantom knock, new intake, SD, all have helped to rid the knock and allow more boost.

I need to monitor my coolant levels, not sure if head gasket is holding. Not pushing coolant, but the coolant bubbles sometimes.

Thanks JusMX141 I didnt know they made those. My actuator is 14psi I think. That is what is hits when i take the boost controller out.

^^ agree with the post above

had evo9 turbo on 2.3 and although it could hit 26psi at peak, but tappered like crazy after 5.5k and couldn't hold more than 16 psi to 7.5k rpm

I am running my wastegate line off the intake manifold. I think this is causing some of the part throttle spiking issues.
