Max boost on TD06h 20g

Okay guys instead of starting a new thread i figured ide bring this one back.

Now im running:
Forged manley pistons and rods .020 over
4g64 crank so its a 2.4L
272 cams
will be getting 1000cc injectors and dsmlink
and i will be running PUMP GAS, this is my DD and e85 is just a little to far for me, and ide like to just fill up my tank wherever.

So im just wondering how much boost can i run on this setup with my 20g without getting knock?

I just need something to aim for when i start tuning.

I've also been offered a 2.3 engine with nearly the same setup ,,what would that do to help this turbo in performance?

Every car is different but depending on the timing, I'd say no more than 24-25 psi without some kind of water or meth injection.

with a 4G64 crank, that would make yours a 2.3l, not a 2.4. probably just a typo though

Well with a .020 over bore doesnt that bring it to a 2.4 or am i mistaken?

I was thinking it be somewhere in that range. Damn i wanted to push 30 psi :coy:

2.0 crank in 2.0 block = 2.0l
2.4 crank in 2.0 block = 2.3l
2.4 crank in 2.4 block = 2.4l

ok witch cams would give the best push on this turbo setup between 4,000 and 7,500 rpm's?

Anything in the 264-272 degree range...pretty much any cam that you see most people running:

HKS 272
FP 2
BC 272

etc...

So now im thinking about running e85, would it be worth it on a 20g?

Also, i was wondering what the max boost is you can run on a 20g that will be in its efficiency range?

25 is going to be the most you can run on pump gas I believe. I am on 14.5 lbs and it runs so so, I got pulled by a SS Turbo Cobalt with a trifecta tune and a few other things. :aha:

E85 is always worth it if you can run it, the stuff is bad ass.

I was running a td05h 20g in an unported evo III 16g turbine housing up until about 3 weeks ago. With 950's, walbro 255, and afpr with base fuel pressure at 48psi I barely had enough fuel. The 20g would hit 31psi at spool and drop to about 26 psi by redline. That was with delta hks 272 cams.

With my old setup on the stock motor, stock cams and a td06h 20g I could get it to boost 22-23 psi on 91 octane. Would rarely see knock unless I was beating on it back to back. Couldn't run shit for timing but that's 91 pump crap for you.

E85 is night and day difference compared to pump gas, been running it since August 2009!

What were your IDC's with the 950's and 20G? I'm going to be using the Buschur Racing TD05/6 hybird 20g and I was looking at getting FIC 850's but I'm wondering if they will be enough. It will be on 91 pump gas.

Yeah that is the problem I'm gonna be having, I'll be running a 18g with 880cc injectors and I don't have a E85 station anywhere near me.. So I'm probably gonna be going meth injection, but until then I'm probably gonna be stuck at around 22psi. Bleh

On E85 and a good amount of boost I was seeing over 100% duty cycle until I bumped up the base fuel pressure. Even then it was still in the 90's.

On pump gas at 22-23psi for boost the 950's were way more than I needed. You'll be fine with the 850's.

Im going to run 1000+cc injectors with dsmlink, and most likely e85, i will have more than enough fuel :thumb:
So whats the MOST boost i can squeeze out of this 20g?

The most boost safely? Or the most boost period.. Safely, probably around 24psi. Maxing it out, like 30psi. If you wanna try and squeeze more out of it you should contact FP or a company like that and see about getting a 8cm exhaust housing, it will add that little bit of extra lag you said you wanted as well since your FWD.
