Recently, I've been looking into the TD06H 20G (True 20G). And I haven't really come up on much information in regards to what I want to find out. So here are several questions that I want to find out:
- How does one build a TD06H 20g?

- What parts would I need to put it together, or at least what combination of parts can I put together? (Since some of the MHI Turbos are interchangeable

- Are there any specific sizes for the parts to order?

- Is there any machining involved to make parts fit?

- Is there someone that actually makes parts for these Turbos? If not, is there a way to contact Mitsubishi in getting the actual turbo itself

- What are the pros/cons of running this turbo if you were to maximize it to get the 500 crank horsepower that people have said this can achieve (How is the lag, does it have good top end, etc.)

That's all the questions I have for now
 
I wouldn't necessarily call this a "true 20G" as the 20G is just the compressor and can exist in any form you wish. There were a handful of 20G's which came from the factory paired to a TD06H turbine but were never really intended for a small-displacement performance application.

It's possible to fit a TD06H turbine in the 78-11830 D2 (non Evo III) turbine housing only. These housings are getting harder and harder to find without cracks but are still out there. The reason you must use this housing is the 78-13700 F5 Evo III turbine housing is too thin around the exit flange to support a larger turbine...you'll end up machining right through the outlet.

For a 500 horsepower goal if you're already thinking of using a TD06H turbine just go for a DSM Red. The lag difference between the two will be minimal (a few hundred RPMs) and the larger compressor will make the power easier without the need to drive the compressor to the edge of the map. I don't even believe a cast 20G could pull off making 500 horsepower to be honest, so you'd be using an aftermarket billet wheel to get it done anyway.
 
Thanks for the info. I'm in the middle of getting a bastard 20g together and I was just thinking ahead if I ever do decide to go for more power (500hp in this case) what would be the best option. Especially since I do want to do auto-x and still have fun on the street.
 
This would be right up your alley...brand new; it's a stock-appearing EF3 from Midwest Turbo Connection before MAP began building their own turbos in-house. Custom-sized (larger) inlet has been welded on the cover to support the 55mm compressor inducer.

Basically a stock-appearing FP Red by the wheel specs.
